Smokewood American Grill — Restaurant in Highfill

My girlfriend and I each had two beers before our flight. The cost for the four beers (before tip)...$44. Prices were not listed on the menu, and yes, I expected to pay more at an airport bar....but $11 a beer is more than concerts and sporting events, so there was some sticker shock there. They are the only bar in the airport (that I could find), and they clearly take advantage of that fact. We decided we'd close our tab 20 minutes before we needed to leave for our flight. In that time, we never even saw our waitress in the restaurant (and this place is quite small), and there were only two other tables with customers, so she wasn't exactly slammed. After waiting 20 minutes, I found that there was no one behind the bar, and not a single wait staff on the floor, so I walked into the kitchen (where I still didn't see them), and asked one of the cooks to help me close my tab. For a restaurant bar, you would think they would at least SLIGHTLY take into account that people are on a but of a strict schedule. The restaurant was also really hot inside (much hotter than the actual airport), and I generally get cold easily. Maybe after selling a few more $11 beers, they can afford to...

Stopped here during an 8 hour flight delay. Bartender quietly said "What can I get you" without ever even looking in my direction, so I didn't think she was talking to me, then came closer and rudely said "What can I get you ma'am!". I ordered my food and drink and got no silverware or napkins and she never came back to even acknowledge that I was there - I had to reach over and get the cocktail napkins to eat my wings. That woman soon left and a young guy took over and was wonderful, along with a young girl who I think was new and still in training - both of them were great and salvaged the experience. Also I ordered wings with no sauce, but they had some sort of seasoning on them which I don't think the menu mentioned - only an issue because I have allergies and didn't get the chance to ask what was in the seasoning since I didn't know it was on there. I will say on a positive note I had wings and two drinks for just $24 which was cheap...

Our flight was delayed 4 hours by United. My wife and I sat at the bar at 7:33pm. A female employee stared at us for almost 5 minutes before coming over. She walked behind the bar and said with a nasty voice, “What can I get you?” I asked my wife what she wanted and the employee said, “Drinks only. The kitchen is closed.” I told her we only wanted drinks. She seemed put out that we were there and said again, “What do you want?” I ordered a Modelo and she said they were out of Modelo. I asked her what they did have. She was still angry and rattled off three tap beers. My wife said, “I don’t want anything…” and the nasty employee said, “Good.” I’m sorry you have to work at 7:30 at the airport. Believe me, I would rather be back home but my flight was delayed.
