Birch Cafe was a culinary and social treat. We were looking to try some vegan fare after a doctor's appointment on a particularly frigid and dreary MLK Jr. day, and Birch Cafe was nearby. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The light, bright, minimal interior was festooned with Valentine's Day decorations and shiny snowflakes, and there was a variety of seating, including couches and tables for 2-4 people. Open shelves near the entrance displayed a variety of local and niche retail products. The menu consisted asof a selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and a rotating offering of flatbread and specials, as well as a wide selection of hot and cold beverages and a bakery case. EVERYTHING WAS VEGAN. It was so exciting. We ordered the Raven and Dragon Club, a turkey bacon avocado sandwich, a mocha latte and a pistachio latte. We rounded this out with the trio of wings and a couple bags of Cape Cod chips. The staff were really friendly, and the food was made quickly behind the counter, even though they were really busy with takeout and eat-in customers. Our sandwiches were delicious and the lattes were smooth. We liked the toasty whole grain bread, variety of plant-based "meats" and cheezes, and the variety of sauces and condiments. The trio of seitan "wings" were particularly tasty in bbq, lemon pepper, and Buffalo. Before we left, we loaded up on baked goods and more lattes. Please note that they do not take cash, but you can pay with cards or digitally with your phone. Birch Cafe was balm for the tastebuds and the soul during our visit. We look forward to eating there next time we're in the area.

Vegan Magic for Everyone: Birch Cafe Conquers Hearts (& Taste Buds!) Confession: I'm not vegan. But step into Birch Cafe on Wilson Mills Rd, and you'd never guess it! This place is a culinary revelation, offering flavorful, innovative vegan dishes that leave even the most committed carnivores speechless. Whether you're diving into their decadent French dip (trust me, the plant-based "meat" is incredible!), savoring their legendary quiche for breakfast, or indulging in their creamy oat milk latte, prepare to be amazed. The food is fresh, bursting with flavor, and prepared with passion, and the attentive staff only adds to the positive experience. Beyond the deliciousness, Birch Cafe offers a vibrant atmosphere. They host fun pop-up events showcasing local talent, and their grocery section is a treasure trove of unique vegan finds, from fancy cheeses to hard-to-find pantry staples. It's a fun place to explore and discover new things, even if you're not vegan. So, whether you're on a plant-based journey or simply seeking a delicious and unique dining experience, Birch Cafe is a must-visit. It's a testament to the power of creative cuisine and a reminder that good food transcends dietary labels. I had the breakfast burrito and it was wonderful! I will be back!

The first thing I noticed here is how friendly the workers were. I’m not the most social person, but they started polite conversation and made me feel very welcomed. They heated up a breakfast sandwich for me when I arrived to pick up my order. I indulged my sweet tooth and took a look at their desserts as well. I had the Bacun, Sausage, Eggz & Cheese Breakfast Bagel Sandwich. I really liked all of the toppings, but I did have some feedback about the bagel. It was very hard, not burnt, but tough. I’m not sure if it was because it was nuked too long or if it was stale, but I had to toss most of it. My personal preference is for a lightly toasted breakfast bagel, crisp on the outside and chewy inside. I grabbed a cookie butter “pop tart” for the road. It was very good and a nice snack for the next leg of my road trip. Overall, I liked this place and the service. I just wanted to share feedback about the hard bagel and maybe that was just a fluke. I would come here again!

I have supported Birch Cafe since it opened, actually before it opened because I first met them at a pop up in Mentor. I have been a good customer and have recommended Birch to many people. On January 12, 2024 I ordered 4 flatbread pizzas. My husband picked them up and put them on the middle floor of the van, two boxes in each pile. When he opened the van they were in the same position. They had not moved. He brought them in the house and I opened them. One pizza had a piece missing out of the middle. I thought that was odd! I was concerned that someone tampered with the pizza since they leave the orders on the counter where people sit and come and go. I should have contacted them immediately, but I ended up waiting until the next day when it bothered me a lot. They told me some are cut differently because of size. I wrote back and explained that all my pizzas were the same size and a piece was clearly missing in the middle of the pizza! I even gave them the benefit of the doubt by asking if a piece could have been left behind when they cut them. The person assured me that a piece was not left behind. The person said the flatbread may have slipped around on the way home, or the person who picked them up may have moved things around. They said they were certain the pizzas were not tampered with. They can’t say that because they’re busy in the kitchen, not knowing what could happen on the counter. The people working in the cafe area get busy and certainly can miss someone tampering with an order just sitting on the counter at a distance. I wrote back and told them nothing happened to them on the short ride home, and my husband did NOT move things around! I even pointed out that a pizza cannot shift leaving a piece out in the center! The pieces would shift together. I told them I would not purchase from them again and would not recommend them anymore. I had thought I’d go and talk with them personally, but they did not respond back, so why waste my time. They could have cared less!! I guess their business is so good now that customer satisfaction is not important to them. Very, very sad and...

I was on the road, in a new town, searching for a café with Internet access to take an important zoom call. I found Birch Café on Google Maps. Wanted to go to a LOCAL place, not a chain. Even though a chain would be more predictable. It always feels important to support a local economy even when I’m breezing through. Although the Birch Café sign was not very noticeable from the main road, and it’s a very compact storefront, upon finding it & entering, I was so kindly greeted even though they were closing in an hour. He asked if they had Internet they said “YES!” I asked if I could use it until they closed. They were very generous. And said “Yes of course !” My call had already started without me, so I said “I’ll come back to buy something when we’re on a break !” They indicated that it was not a requirement to make a purchase. I found that so deeply community minded & compassionate, at the Birch Café already had my vote of confidence ~ But then once we were on a break, I went up and got a vegan BLT SANDWICH + a cup of cold brew iced coffee. The quality of the sandwich was actually quite amazing ~ I’m not vegan, so I was not expecting much. But it was moist, incredibly flavorful & fresh. I was truly impressed. They made it just before they closed and didn’t complain at all !

And the cup of iced COLD BREW COFFEE was literally among the BEST COFFEE I’ve ever had ! It was smooth, not bitter, with caramel overtones. I used Agave syrup & oat milk. Oh my goodness, I am a convert.

If I lived here, I’d go here all the time. Those of you who frequent Wilson Mills around Cleveland give Birch...
