Jin 28 — Restaurant in Highwood

I don't like writing bad reviews. I believe in supporting small businesses and so I hesitated offering this perspective, but I have to say that it was one of the worst meals I've ever had in a restaurant. Since we were already in Highland Park we looked up a place to have dinner and found Jin 28 with 4.7 star rating. WOW! Sounded great. We were politely greeted by the young woman who was both hostess and wait staff. After looking over the menu we decided on Veg Egg Rolls, Sweet & Sour Shrimp, and Mu Shu Vegetables with plum sauce and pancakes. The egg rolls were gummy and tasted like they had been in a freezer for months. The shrimp were deep fried and other than the batter on the shrimp, completely devoid of flavor as was the sweet and sour sauce, and worst of all was the Mu Shu. I took one bite and wanted to spit it out, but out of consideration for the other patrons, swallowed it with difficulty. There was a rancid flavor to the vegetables and the sauce. As another person who left a review stated, Jin 28 is well below even Panda Express. It's a pity. I wish I could give this restaurant a better review. I cannot. I had read some of the other reviews before ordering from here. They certainly didn't give a full idea of what this food is all about. Absolutely, tasteless.

We ordered take out consisting of the egg rolls and crab ragoon, cashew chicken w/brown rice and the BBQ ribs. It's was all horrible.

The egg rolls and crab ragoon all had the same oily, onion and pancake batter texture coating with an indescribable interior,for both! Don't try it!

The cashew chicken with brown rice tasted as though the chicken was barely cooked with vegetables that had no seasoning to make it resemble or taste as a Thai meal.

The barbecue ribs were absolutely in edible. They were tough, and the taste was indescribable. We have ended up throwing everything out. What a waste.

If you're ever thinking of going to this place or ordering out, don't! I spent the total of $45 for our dinner tonight and it was complete waste of money and food.

I come in and there is a man who just placed his order and in less then 5 minutes she gave him his order she still didn't take my order she kept walking away the Asian woman called for men to come up there and take my order I asked her for my receipt 2x she just nodded her head then a woman comes in here after I've been sitting here for over 10min this woman tells her she's placing an order the woman tells her the order verbally out loud and the Asian woman walks to the back comes back with her order and hands her the order now I'm mad because how do some one who comes after me gets there order before me and she placed her order the same way I placed mine.
