Teddy O'Brien's probably deserves a better review than I'm about to give. One thing happened here that significantly lowered my review. I'll get to that one thing in a moment, because I don't think my incident should stop you from coming here.....
We had appetizers, they were pretty good, but nothing special. I guess they were what I expect and a bar I'm going to see music at.
I like the atmosphere. The vibe of the place was pretty cool. We drove about an hour to come down to check out the band. I thought it was a pretty good spot to see live music.
since they have live music time, it would be nice if they built a small stage in the corner where they put the bands. The band is a little hard to see.
before It got busy, the bartender was very friendly.. very attentive to everyone. as the night went on and the bar got very busy, the bartenders were doing an excellent job. still friendly and still attentive.
that seems like a pretty good review food, atmosphere, and service. we're all good. but I only gave three stars. So onto the incident that I alluded to at the beginning of the review...
We got there early, there was less than 10 people sitting at the bar. My group grabbed a table next to the bar, and I went up to order the first round of drinks. there was an older man standing behind the bar in an orange sweater. I tried to order around from him. but he told me he didn't work there (I do think he didn't work here, but I think he may have been the owner.... which makes all of this way worse) I found this gentleman to be extremely rude. not just because he wouldn't take my drink order. but because of what he said, how he said it, how he acted towards me. The other thing, I don't other people would feel the same way towards this guy. after I took my drinks back to my table, the guy seemed friendly to everybody at the bar. So maybe he just didn't like me in particular.
As I'm putting this down into the review, it seems very petty. but I do feel the owner of a small business should be held to pretty high standards as far as making customers feel welcome along with having a high level of customer service.
he was still behind the bar for about an hour, and then seemed to have left and come back throughout the evening. this all makes me believe he is the owner of the bar. if he was simply a customer hanging out behind the bar, well that would be weird, Then any of the negativity in my review would be completely unwarranted. but if he is indeed the owner, his extreme rudeness to me 100% warrants a...
Read moreMusic plays extremely loud and ruins the neighborhood. Music is always the same and out of date. Several miles of the area can hear the music - including nature preserves and prairie land- you can’t go on walks or have your windows open on the weekend without your house and yard being ruined by this bar. It feels like you can’t escape the sound of the crappy music no matter how far away you are. This places ruins the neighborhood that would potentially be a nice place to live and its extremely loud and outdated music. Ruins the area and makes me want to move far away from this place. I thought this would be a peaceful nice neighborhood and place to live but it’s full of businesses like this one that are so selfish and loud that they don’t care if they ruin the weekend for every single person and animal and nature area within a 5 mile radius. Apparently this makes them money? I can’t imagine how going here and being near this loud noise and smelly bar is...
Read moreTeddy’s is a fantastic hangout for lovers of good local music and DJs and those who love a great dive bar. There is ample space inside to saddle up at the bar or sit at a high-top against the wall. They have the standby pool table and darts board as well. There’s a small stage inside that handles karaoke and DJ nights and enough room for a small crowd to gather and dance.
The outdoor area is amazing and can fit over a hundred patrons. They have a pretty nice stage set up and an outdoor bar to boot. There are a few outdoor tables and high-tops to sit at but be forewarned there will be a wait when one of the more popular bands are playing.
This bar is known for having AMAZING Dead cover bands and rarely disappoints in that realm. Plenty of space to roam, and the people watching is second to none. The bar is also open LATE on the weekends and there always seems to be a very diverse crowd in terms of age....
