I've been a dedicated patron of this mom and pop shop for an impressive 8 years, consistently enjoying their offerings. My recent visit, however, left me disheartened. Despite being a familiar face for 8 years, the service on this occasion was subpar.
I decided to enhance my standard order by including fresh jalapeños. The attendant, managing Super Bowl orders, assured me of their availability. I explicitly requested jalapeños on only half of my buffalo chicken large pie in the same order. also ordered a pineapple pizza, emphasizing once more my preference for fresh jalapeños and adding onions. Regrettably, my instructions were misunderstood, leading to a pie that was half buffalo, half jalapeños.
To my dismay, the delivered pies not only lacked the anticipated freshness but also tasted excessively salty, deviating significantly from the usual enjoyable experience. Disappointed but not seeking a refund, I called the manager to express my concerns, emphasizing my intent was constructive feedback, not monetary compensation.
However, the manager's response left much to be desired. Despite my clear statement that it wasn't about the money, he offered a mere $5-$10 off my order. This seemed inadequate for a $58 two-pie purchase, especially on one of the busiest pizza days – the Super Bowl. The insensitivity of the offer felt like a secondary blow after the disappointing pies.
As a loyal customer who normally prefers this local gem over mainstream options like Domino's, I felt undervalued and even insulted by the compensation offered. I couldn't help but compare my experience to the reliable and satisfying pizzas available from larger chains.
It's worth noting that both pies were picked up at the same time by my husband. This incident has left me reconsidering my loyalty to a place I've cherished for almost a decade, highlighting the significant impact a single disappointing experience can have on...
Read moreTwo days ago we ordered a large, plain pizza to go from Lenny’s Pizza & Pasta. After we opened the box, we discovered our receipt “stuck” face down in tomato sauce and cheese, at the center of our pizza. So we called and spoke with their manager who said he would compensate us on our next visit.
Two days later we returned and told their manager that we were the customers who had a receipt in our pizza. Then we ordered a large and a medium pizza to go. The medium pizza was black on the bottom, which we never had happen before, and the medium pizza was also very salty and dry, (almost like it was an old, reheated pizza). The large pizza, while not burnt on the bottom, was very salty. So we question whether both pizzas were made poorly intentionally so we don’t return there. They did take $10 off our bill.
If you must eat here, we would not recommend bringing any issue to their attention because they don’t really want your business after you express an issue with their product. We still spent $22 this evening, for pizzas we considered inedible.. What a waste of money.
Ps: The above review is for the Hillsborough, NJ, location and their Flemington, NJ, location also put our receipt face down on top of our pizza sauce and cheese. We never said anything at that time figuring it was an accident, until it happened to us at the Hillsborough location. We don’t consider putting a receipt inside the box (and on the pizzas) a very sanitary practice, especially when you’re working in the food industry. It’s the only pizzeria we know that will put their receipts face down on your pizza’s tomato sauce and cheese. It has happened to us twice; once in...
Read moreLenny's Pizza and Pasta is located in a small mall close to the Municipal Building in Hillsborough, NJ. The location seems small from the outside, but has a much more spacious interior. There are a wide variety of slices on display behind the counter, so the options are plentiful. I decided to go with the Grandma and Margherita, two of my favorites. The pizzeria has a fairly nice dining area if you choose to eat in and has different sized tables and booths to accommodate different crowd sizes.
The pizza itself looks very tasty, but wasn't very flavorful. Their margherita slice uses no sauce, only tomatoes, which is one style that I don't mind, but in order for that to work, the tomatoes have to be flavorful. The crust was dry and bland and the cheese left much to be desired. Even the spices added to the margherita slice didn't really provide. The grandma slice too lacked much flavor. Yes, there was adequate sauce and cheese, but no taste that stood out. When I do end up ranking all of the Hillsborough pizzerias, I doubt Lenny's will make it very high (even their plain pie, which I've eaten many times is not even close to Joe's or Victors). I suppose I can blame the lack of flavors on the fact that my slices were re-heated, though I hope that the fresh slices are much better than what I...
