Disappointing and will not return. Sampan used to be one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the state. They lost their touch and are now one of the worst. Last night my wife and I went after a long day. The waiter gave us an attitude right from the start when I asked him if they had green tea. With an attitude, he said, "we only have one type of tea." We ordered to shrimp fried rice and orange beef. The rice was dry and hard... clearly old. The waiter did not check on us for 20 minutes. We stopped a waitress who went to get him and we sent the rice back after trying to eat it. There was nobody else in the restaurantt. 5 minutes later the rice came back. It had the texture of being microwaved, with the shrimp now gummy. The orange beef was not as bad, but had the taste of orange marmelade. The billed us for the rice. We explained that we did not like the rice and they still bolled us. The man handling us said, "nobody else complained about the rice". He had attitude and simply did not care.
Low quality food and the man tending to us has a poor attitude. Save your money and go elsewhere. This used to be a gem of a place. It is not anymore....
Read moreI hardly ever give bad reviews to any local business because I want them to succeed. But this was quite possibly the worst food for a take out we ever had. First they screwed up our order. We paid for a large fried rice for three people and got a very small one. And we were charged for a large . Not even a regular size container a much smaller one. I don’t know about you but rice is a big part of Chinese food for us. Now this could be an honest mistake and wouldn’t be a big deal if we got white rice with our order but they don’t give out rice with orders any more. I never heard of this. Ridiculous! So now the food; Chicken with broccoli. There was very little chicken and all broccoli. And I mean very little chicken. The worst part of the meal was the General Tsao’s chicken. You could not put a knife through it! It was so hard from the frying. I thought I was going to break a tooth. Not exaggerating! Not to mention I couldn’t even find the chicken in each piece. It was awful. This meal was over $50 with no rice. So disappointed so we will never go back. They said they would refund us the rice screw up. Not...
Read moreJust ate there today for the first time in over a year and have always loved the place and had good experiences. Today however was a bit different. The soup came out and was hot and to our table within about 3 minutes giving the idea that it may have been microwaved. The rest of our food came out just moments later. The boneless pork ribs were mostly fat and cartilage, the teriyaki beef sticks were barely cooked at all. Slimy and mushy. The rice was very bland and the lomain and stemed dumplings both looked extremely soggy and possibly someone's leftovers. And last but not least the egg rolls we got looked like had already been cooked before today and they just re cooked them for us. When opening up the egg rolls we noticed that they looked old and dried up. The waiter was nice as always but looked nervous every time he approached our table. We have never been so disappointed and especially because we have had good memories at this place but unfortunately we will not be returning after this experience.. It seems obvious to me that they are in desperate need of...
