Great Wall Restaurant — Restaurant in Hillsdale

This place has been in town for a long time now and although the set-up has not necessarily changed for the BETTER it is STILL some of the best Chinese you can get in this area. It is family run and while SOME reviews are somewhat criticizing of the staff (which are the owner's children who have literally grown UP in the restaurant their entire lives.) I find it somewhat sad that someone would complain about one of them texting while sitting at a table, like they have been taught to do when it's not busy. GET OVER yourself! These kids have WORKED since they could WALK which can't be much of a life for a KID, and if you have a problem eat elsewhere. At LEAST they're not swearing and being rude to the customers or acting like a LOT of the younger kids their age in the area, and this place is still here while other places have come and gone and you don't hear about them having any major health violations like that OTHER restaurant that was in Jonesville that just closed up after selling a bunch of gift certificates to customers for Christmas and closing it's doors before the New Year! If you had HALF the integrity that this family has, you wouldn't be afraid to post your REAL name along with your opinion, but clearly you DON'T, so you can talk about someone without anyone knowing who YOU are even though it was obvious who your comment was about. If you don't like the place, go to Adrian, Coldwater, or Jackson and eat, at LEAST it's not another lame burger or pizza joint, since those are basically your only other options...

Here is our truth. That business is being run by 2 people, trying to make their stake in this great land.

The have come here seeking freedom as most of all of us have throughout the history of this country.

They have wonderful daughters who will make fine americans.

They are still learning our language and culture here in hillsdale.

What you need to understand is they are learning our language and culture...... Be understanding and patient where that is involved.

She is one woman, running a register, dining hall, carry out phone and her children. She has our utmost respect.

Ordering on a friday night at 6pm...... expect her to be short, a little flustered.... and with one in the kitchen maybe a little slow.

We'd suggest patronizing them on "non prime time".

Had mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls last night, every bit as good as any local chinese place in any large metro area. Looking forward to it again for lunch (yes the portions are very american, aka HUGE!) .

Let's give these new owners a solid chance, they are everything we say we stand for.

My experience at the restaurant was not a good one. The table was very sticky and very dirty, The waitress was very snotty when she thought we ordered one thing and we did not, the waitress also brought us a refill on our drinks but refilled a diet as a regular and I had to send it back, the waitress was very adamant that we had to pay a 15 to 20% tip she said it to me at least three times and I'm sorry but when I tip a person I base it on cleanliness of the facility, the food, the waitress whether or not she can get our order correct or not and on the receipt it says tip suggestion It doesn't say you have to pay 15 to 20% and when the lady found out that we were not going to leave her tip because of how bad our service was she snatched up my to-go drinks and threw them away and said nope you don't get a drink if you're not going to pay my 15 to 20% tip and the worst part about the deal is it was only me and my other person in that building eating and they still can get our order right and she kept going in the back and yelling at somebody I will not be recommending this restaurant to anybody I will be telling everybody to stay...
