Contender's Pizzeria & Arcade — Restaurant in Hillsville

I've tried to go eat here 2 times in person and ended up leaving both times. 1st time bc they were understaffed (though not very busy) and we were waiting forever with no acknowledgement or even eye contact. I think they wanted us to leave. Plus I only had so much time with my sibling so we went elsewhere to eat. 2nd we went to sit on the patio with our dog (it was a nice day) and when I asked they said "No the patio is closed."..oook, why?..Didn't feel like going through the door today? Didn't even apologize or communicate well with us at all either time. For 3rd attempt, before I drove there with my dog, I tried to call 2x during business hours to see if the patio is open today. Its a nice, sunny, fall day, but who knows with this place bc they won't answer the phone either! I give up and probably won't attempt again for a long time bc this is BS. Never have been to this place figured we would try it.. Was gonna go for the pizza, but we normally like spaghetti at Italian restaurants so we chose spaghetti. ($10)

The menu is not very clear on how the dish is made so we had to rely on the waitress to explain what to expect when ordering spaghetti when we are normally used to get in spaghetti

Basically, this is made with noodles and Sauce you don’t get any meat in the sauce this is how she explained that it would come

it arrives, and it has got some kind of cheese on top and And green stuff was made it taste Horrible was not explained to us

The salad was good and my daughter shrimp and fries was decent she said

They did give us a refund on the spaghetti

Needless to say, we will not be back for food is not very good And very pricey for what you get and a portion...

Big shout out to Sarah and her whole team! We are from out of town and decided on contenders because it was the closest thing. By far the BEST. DECISION. We’ve made all weekend as far as food goes This place is top notch!! The staff is super friendly and helpful so service is better than you’ll find anywhere else, the owners are amazing and present, and to top it the food is FANTASTIC! We came in with a party of 7, and Every. Single. Thing. We ordered was awesome! They offer a full bar, an arcade for the kids to run around in, and the best food around (pizza, pasta, salads, wings, calzones etc.) this is definitely a hidden gem in this town!
