We were very happy to see that the Gap Deli was opened and were looking forward to what we had experienced so many times before. Great food and great service. We walked in to find that one's order is placed at the counter. The menu had changed with fewer items to choose from. Once we gave the cashier our order, we were asked if we wanted to put a tip on the charge? My understanding always was you tipped the server. Very odd request to ask for a tip up front when no one would be waiting on you. We responded no. Eventually our food was brought out but not our drinks. We waited a bit then had to get up and ask for them. No longer was the friendly atmosphere present. None whatsoever.
Also had "A special thank you on your fifth meal" card. It states one punch per person. I questioned why I only got credit for one meal as there was two of us. The cashier became a bit frazzled, told me I was wrong and she couldn't explain it.
So sad as we always enjoyed the time there. I did question if it was a new owner but was told no. Not the Gap Deli I knew. Not sure if I will give them...
Read moreI have to be honest, the food we had here was not good and a waste of money. My grilled cheese was made of dry white bread and one Kraft cheese slice with no oil or butter used for crisping up the bread (it looked like it was “grilled” on a dry panini press). The coffee was no better than a highway gas station. I know there are lots of different preferences around cole slaw, but I’m not a fan of slaw made with almost all mayo and little to no vinegar. Totally try it if that’s your fave!
I hate to give a negative review of a very sweet looking place. The flower garden out front was really really gorgeous, and the three store fronts (one is a garden store) looked so nice and inviting. The staff were really kind and polite. This is the kind of place you want to support!
We’re just tight this month and so paying a little extra for un-eatable food and bad coffee kind of stung. I guess I’m writing the review I...
Read moreI HAVE to tell this story. We found this restaurant as we were passing through. We were just looking for a quick bite to get back on the road ASAP. The food was great. The Service was outstanding. Then a homeless man came in and simply asked for a free cup of ice water. The waitress (maybe the owner) greeted him as a customer (yes sir, of course. Sit anywhere you like). She made him some food, got him some fresh coffee and offered anything on the menu on her. He was brought to tears. I've been down on my luck he said and that's really nice of you. Without batting an eye...we've all been down on our luck and we didn't get anywhere by ourselves. Let me warm up that coffee. He was met with such humanity. It was incredibly moving. We sat in the car and cried. If we ever pass through that little town ever again we will certainly...
