WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE?
Making the customer feel appreciated, even when they are not please, is the goal. That was not accomplished in our experience at Ruby Lees. We made reservation party of 4 to celebrate my mother in law 64th birthday. Food never arrived after 2 hours of placing the order. The host/owner was totally clueless with NO customer service. Then host/owner got mad and told my family to leave.
TIMELINE: 7:05 pm Arrived the host/owner walked up front and said, “Do you have reservations?” as if I was trespassing on private property.”
7:30 pmWaitress takes our order and Deaz Guys began to perform.
7:45 pmWaitress returns twice and asked what I ordered and did I want the shrimp fried.
8:00 pmWaitress brings the drinks and a different waitress brings 4 dinners that we did not order. This continued to happen throughout the night.
8:30/9:00 pm Waitress does not return…We still have not been served. Now we are speaking with the host/owner. This was no help because he did not show any concerns and he was just ass clueless as the waitress that was missing. The only thing the owner cared about was how many people he could get into this tiny restaurant. 100% sure exceeded occupancy limit. Dance floor was six by six.
9:00 pm: Waitress returns to our table from being missing for 30 minutes. I told her don’t worry about my table orders and we will be leaving as soon as my mother in law returned from the restroom. (Long line to get in the restroom)
9:15 pm: Hosted/owner come to the table with two plates in his hands which still was not right. He said, “HERE’S YOUR FOOD!” I told him I cancelled that order 15 minutes ago. Then he got very upset and said, “HERE’S YOUR FOOD!” I told him he could eat it because I did not want it. Then he got really loud with me and said, “I DON’T LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE”.
9:16 pm: Now my husband is involved because he hears how disrespectful the host/owner is talking to me. Once my husband stood up and told the host/owner a few encouraging words then everything changed. The host told us to leave by taking loud and just truly being unprofessional. Now I feel like am at a comedy show b/c this is truly funny to me. The only reason I went to Ruby Lees was to hear the sounds of Deaz Guys. Nevertheless I will not be returning to Ruby Lees. I will continue to support Deaz Guys but it will be at The Jazz Corner which is less than 10 minutes away. Better Food, Better Service, Better Sound System, the table is yours for the ENTIRE night and reservations are confirmed by email and telephone. The Jazz Corner would never ask you to leave because they appreciate all of...
Read moreMaybe we went on a bad night but last night was not what we expected. Having never been to this establishment, we relied on the reviews which were mostly raving about the ambience and of course the food.
If you don't frequent Hilton Head then you should really pay attention to your GPS while trying to find the establishment which is on a dark street in a not so well lit strip mall (if you want to call it that)
After parking, we could hear the live music as we approached the front door, which was encouraging. However besides there being no seating inside, the music was deafening once the door was opened so to spare our ears from reverbrating we remained outside.
Our waitress Marie was very welcoming and wanted to ensure we sat under a heat lamp to minimize the elements. Tim, the owner came out and was very friendly and let us know that inside seating would be available once the band took it's break in about 5 minutes ( the break actually happened about 45 minutes later)
We overheard Tim discuss with another table that the kitchen was beyond short staffed but was doing a superb job of getting orders out correctly and promptly, again that tidbit was promising.
I ordered the 3 piece chicken dinner and kudos for giving me the 2 thighs and one leg as requested but I found the macaroni and cheese dry and flavorless, the collard greens overly vinegary and sadly the well seasoned chicken was cooked in either old or burnt grease.
My sister ordered the 5 piece wings with macaroni and cheese plus yams on the side. She too was disappointed with her meal as the yams were too sweet and like mine the dry mac and cheese left her underwhelmed.
Again, maybe we showed up on a bad night, the place was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves so we expected to have the same experience. Sadly we did not!
Side note: Really wanted to order the Catfish but couldn't justify paying $22.00 for one medium filet! For that price, there should be two filet's!
Will we go back? Probably since we enjoyed the music that catered to the mature crowd but we will wait until the weather warms up a bit so sitting outside is...
Read moreThis is one of the worst restaurants I have experienced. First, the restaurant is a hole in the wall. There was a man sitting outside on patio holding a remote control trying to fix the TV. He stands up and asked if we had reservations. He looks down at a napkin where you can see hand written names for a reservation. What kind of technology is that?? Didn't know you had to have one but no. So we had to sit outside to eat. Patio had different furniture to sit on that looked like it came from somebody house. Silverware was a mixture. Mosquitoes galore, and they didn't have any lighting on the patio except from the parking lot light that shines onto the patio. Waitress took our order and never came back to table until bill was paid. Ordered app of lemon pepper wings, and there was no lemon, just salt and pepper. Food took 40 minutes to come out and of course, mac n cheese was dry, sweet potatoes was not cooked and drenched in sugar water, and salmon wasn't cooked all the way. So waited for waitress to come back to let her know the food was not good and couldn't find her. So I'm assuming the man with remote control from earlier was a manager or owner and came to table to ask if I wanted a box. No! I want it off my bill. He stated I ate the food which I hadn't bc it was still on plate. So he compensates me by taking 50% off my water downed drink and terrible food. Bill still came to $85 with my husband food. Now if u you are a manager or owner you shouldn't be walking around restaurant with a glass of red wine drinking in front of customers. Second your attitude sucks! U never once apologized for your waitress being MIA. He was very arrogant and condescending like his stuff don't stink. All he had to do was communicate if the kitchen was backed up or waitress is behind to let us know whats going on. And I forgot to say she had 2 other tables out on patio next to us and she never waited on, he did. The live band that was playing would of been good if they get a new lady to sing with band. She was horrible and off key! Band was fine but she sucked! Please don't go and waste your time and money at...
