This was my fourth visit, and I have to say—I truly love the food here. It’s consistently fantastic. That said, tonight the service left me disappointed.
Ava was our server. We were only the second table seated in the dining room (the other being a group of four very loud women). We ordered an appetizer (nachos) and our entrées at the same time. Unfortunately, all the food came out together. As someone who works in the service industry, I know it’s standard practice for appetizers to be served first so guests can enjoy them without their main dishes getting cold. Perhaps Ava was confused, but further training could help establish that when in doubt, it’s always best to ask.
Ava checked on us once—before we even had a chance to take a bite—and my dad mentioned he would have preferred the nachos before the entrées. That comment seemed to be brushed off (or maybe it was lost in the noise from the other table). After that, Ava disappeared for the rest of the meal.
My margarita, which was excellent, sat empty for quite a while, and I would have gladly ordered another had anyone checked in. Dessert might have been tempting too, but it was never offered.
I don’t expect fine dining service here, but I do think some of the basics were missed, and with a little more attentiveness the experience could have matched the quality...
Read moreOutstanding! Like others, I’ve been awaiting the opening of Locales for a long time, and it is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and an exciting new option for high quality food. It takes courage and confidence to open a restaurant during the height of a pandemic, and it’s no wonder the owner has both, as the place is superb! I couldn’t be happier to see this place so busy whenever I drive by. I’ve dined inside and outside and each space has its own unique feel. The outside is fun with its colorful picnic tables but the dining room is stunning in the afternoon sun and the perfect place to enjoy something from the extensive tequila or mezcal list. The Southwest salad with pollo assada tossed in cilantro lime dressing is my favorite salad around but I love the taco selections and they are fun to mix and share. The current menu is small, again, this place opened during a pandemic, but you can trust that any selection you make is extremely fresh and is served fast, by staff that enjoy being there. It’s so refreshing! I always start with chips and salsa, which comes with three homemade sauces and chips so fresh they are warm. A peak in the kitchen tells me the food is made by people who know authentic cuisine and that this is...
Read moreThe drinks were great! That’s about where things fall off. We went in around 7 pm so it wasn’t very busy and I’m sure it was a long day but things were just off. I’ll preface by saying it was all of our first times and 3/4 of the group live in the general area. Everything started off well until my order and someone else’s in my party got messed up. I had ordered steak street tacos, no onions add cheese and was given chicken (if you’re reading this as our waiter I would’ve happily ate the chicken but those in my party decided against that…) anyway not a problem they sent it back and when the new tacos came out one order was right but mine was chicken yet again. Fine to me but not everyone else. When they brought the issue up to our waiter he did try to say I ordered chicken but the four of us remember me ordering steak (once again I would’ve eaten the chicken no problem but at this point the situation was out of my hands somehow). When my tacos did come out they were cold which just kind of sucks considering I watched them walk out of the kitchen and the two steps to me. Members of the table had crunchy pieces of meat, I had onions on mine even though I ordered no onions. If you wanna order straight off the menu...
