Not usually one to leave a negative review because I understand mistakes happen. But we waited 20 minutes to order. Got to the register said it would be an hour wait time so because we drove over and hour to get to the location we were fine with that. We were the CLOSEST table to the register and several people after us ordered and received their food before I finally got up to inquire about the wait time. One of the waitresses / employees exaggerated saying that she screamed our name 7 times and no one replied although they lost our ticket and had to look it up in their system. I can live with that. But there was no accommodation after the fact. They couldn’t provide us wit the food we ordered because their pizza oven had been shut down. There was no apology nor accountability from any of the staff. I have had good experiences at this place before, but the way we were treated was very dissappinting and lacked decency on all levels. They didn’t offer us a credit for the future or to put any of the food on the house, in this case it was just due. Up until 5 minutes before exiting I was the also the only black person that was in this establishment and trust me I had plenty of time to look around to notice. we also tipped 20% on the bill before we sat down (IN FRONT OF THE REGISTER) to wait on the food we NEVER received.
Plain and simple,...
Read moreAt the last minute we decided to try and new place while out for a drive. We were passing through Hinton anyway, so stopped at The Market for lunch. What a great place with a lovely vibe and pretty furnishings - be sure and check out the ceiling! The restaurant sells a great variety of local/WV products like maple syrup, jams, a few WV oven mitts, things like that. We also discovered Dick Taylor Chocolate Bars which are made by a very small company in Humboldt County, CA - Eureka - where we are originally from! What a fun surprise! We bought some bags of gourmet, flavored popcorn, a couple chocolate bars, and took home a couple slices of cake for after dinner. (Chocolate and Milky Way - both were amazing!) For lunch we both had the reuben sandwich with beer battered fries - I added lettuce and tomato to mine. These sandwiches were really, REALLY good. Lots of meat and sauce, just the right amount of sauerkraut, and the rye bread was grilled perfectly. The fries were really good too. They offer free refills from their soda and tea area. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and our meal was served quickly. We will definitely eat there again...
Read moreThis place has small town charm turned up to 11. Walked in and immediately thought, “Yep, I’m about to eat something good.” There’s classic outdoor seating if you’re feeling fresh-air fancy, a cozy main room with a handful of tables, and a big ol’ dining area in the back if you’re rolling deep with friends or family.
They’ve dedicated an entire wall to local craft goods—like a little Etsy shop exploded in the best possible way. Felt like I should’ve brought a tote bag.
The menu? Huge. I had the “famous burger” because if something calls itself famous, you’ve gotta try it. Verdict: legit classic burger vibes, no notes. The onion rings were crispy halos of happiness.
I was this close to grabbing a pizza—there’s a beautiful classic pizza oven behind the counter practically begging for attention. Next time, it’s happening.
Desserts were staring me down from across the room. I gave in to the cannoli, and wow—crunchy, creamy, and gone in 30 seconds.
The vibe is friendly, the service is great, and I left full and mildly emotional about onion rings....
