We went to Grumpys yesterday for Thanksgiving dinner as I saw their deal and made reservations for three of us. Having never been there before when we arrived I was somewhat disappointed as from the outside I thought omg this place is a hole in a wall. Little did I know what to expect and like the old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover". Once inside we were seated at a table by a smiling waitress who had already placed a tray filled with hors d'oeuvres namely cheeses, sliced sausage, black and green olives, deviled eggs, celery and cream cheese, and pineapple. The inside of the place reminded me of a small texas bar and grill off the beaten path however everyone was smiling and friendly and they had music playing. After getting our drinks, the food came. OMG... not a plate but a platter filled with turkey, ham, mashed taters and homemade gravy, carrots, green beans, yams, dressing, cranberry sauce, homemade biscuit. Two of us could not eat it all and had to bring some home, one of us did and guess what? They brought him ANOTHER plate because he finished his whole one. Then they brought him a to go box so he could bring it home. Well, of course then we had to get our dessert included from the dessert bar....all homemade pumpkin pie, cheesecake, cranberry bars, snickerdoodles, homemade custard pie, cheesecakes in dessert shells with cherry or blueberry topping! All this for $19.95 plus whatever you had for a drink! My bill was $23 as I had iced tea the other 2 folks had cocktails and their bills were only $25! Our entire time there we had 3 waitresses checking on us everytime they walked by and we did not want for ONE thing! I can't possibly say enough about these kind folks and encourage anyone in the area of Homosassa Florida to stop in and give them a try. Kudos to Grumpy Gators, 10 stars out of 5 and we will definitely be back again when we are...
Read moreHappy Birthday Ciara!! We hope you have a fantastic Birthday! Every time we come here we have a great time. It's a wonderful place to just get out and away or to come and party a bit, with some of the kindest staff around. We moved here a couple years ago and this is the place to be, if you want to sit and eat outside or inside, theres plenty of space and let's not forget our favorite lovable 4 legged pets are allowed (as long as they like people and get along with other dogs.) They have the bar dog and he is nothing but the sweetest and will greet you at your car alot of the time. All around great restaurant! Oh there is also horse u's ( not sure if thats how thats spelled lol sorry) a place you take the whole family to eat or when its time to escape away from the kids, it's a great place to go have a drink chill out, listen to music, and forget lifes stresses. So come on down and do some Karaoke or listen to live bands. Mainly kick back hang with your friends and family as music plays behind you and enjoy eachother. Life goes by fast! So enjoy every day as if it were your last! Thank you to all the staff, foods always great and the drinks are always perfect. They work hard to keep this place clean and with descent kind hearted people working the floor and bar.... That's a big plus I my book!
My only issue is they need to fix that darn road coming into parking lot. Hard for people that don't come often to figure out where to get in for new people.( Gotta love the 19 construction.) Maybe put a sign out pointing where to turn, just to help some that are trying to get in. Just an idea for new people. Much love...
Read moreWent there a few weeks ago. Thought it would be a cute place to stop at. Wrong. Walked in and we had to seat ourselves. No problem. Took forever for a waitress to wait on us. When she did, it seemed like it was a bother to do so. Another lady came to take our order after 20 minutes sitting (we were there around 2pm so it was not crowded). The waitress was spending more time talking to customers at another table then waiting on us. Place was really dirty looking and it looked like the menus were never cleaned. Never got a refill on drinks. Never was asked how our food was. In fact, I got a chicken wrap. It was literally all lettuce and tomatoes...with a tiny piece of chicken in it (maybe 3 bites worth). There were flies EVERYWHERE inside which made it even more un-enjoyable. The waitress was the most unfriendly lady I ever met since moving in FL 2 years ago. We got our food and never heard from the waitress again (except to drop off the check) and walk away quickly to go back to socializing with other patrons (friends I am assuming). She spend more time talking to them the hour we were there than anything else. She also smelled like cigarettes so I can only imagine where her hands were before handling our plates. Last problem, we asked about dessert (because my friend wanted something sweet) and her reply was as she kept walking "We have no desserts" as she walked away. With so many friendly and nice places to go to in the area, I will NOT ever go back...
