Seagrass Waterfront — Restaurant in Homosassa Springs

TERRIBLE SERVICE. RUDE OWNER. My friends & I completed an exhilarating day out on the river. We wanted to end the day with "fresh" food. We are a group of 10 & arrived at 5pm. We put in our drink orders. Then eventually our food. We chatted for a while and noticed our meal hadn't arrived. We are told by the manager that our order wasn't placed until 5:58pm. We couldn't figure out why our meals was taking so long. The table that I sat at was broken. They stuck napkins under the leg to balance it. I must have bumped the table wrong because the leg of the table lost it's footing on top of the 2 folded napkins holding it up. The table toppled and knocks my water over, spilling on me. A waiter comes over & tells me the table is broken & to stick more napkins under the table. The manager notices, apologizes, & brings another table over. While adjusting the table, he lets us know that our meal would be comped by 50% due to the long wait & the table incident. We were happy to hear we were valued as customers. Waiting another 10 minutes, we finally get our meal. (It wasn't very good, so the long wait was for naught). After the meal we recieve our checks. The 4 of us that ordered drinks, were not billed for them. We looked at our receipt and there was no 50% off. The manager attempted to see our drinks were comped but that wasn't what we were told. He admitted he tried to but the owner said no. I asked the manager to have the owner speak with us. He refused. Instead told us to walk over to him. I did. He was seated, on his phone the entire time & didn't acknowledge me standing there. Instead the owner continued his conversation on his phone ignoring me. I asked him if he could talk as we had already been there over 2 hours. He continued ignoring me. So I took my cellphone out & began recording him. He didn't like that & took my phone & slammed it on the table. (I later found out he left a small crack on my phone screen). I was appalled. How can an individual treat his customers this way? I only gave one star because I am unable to leave zero. My group and I are African American. They took over an hour to serve us as others were seated, ate, and left. They took an extremely long time to bring us our food, as again, others ordered, received, and finished food while we still waited in our food. We were seated at a broken table which wobbled and spilled our drinks, and when we asked about it a waiter dropped a stack of napkins on our table and told us to shove them under the table leg and walked off.

We were initially told that they would comp our meal, because of this, but after we finished eating we discovered that we were charged full price. When we asked we were told that the owner had retracted the offer. They then harrassed us forced us to leave when we complained.

My friend approached the manager who ignored her while she was trying to talk to him until she started recording him. He then snatched her phone and slammed it on the counter cracking the screen. I have never had an experience even a fraction as bad as the one that we had at this place. All white staff and all white patrons (who were getting much better service I should add) should have tipped us off. Steer wide of this extremely unprofessional and extremely racist establishment. We’ve been going here for a few years, have always enjoyed the view, the staff, the food and drinks. As with any change it takes time, and most people have a hard time with change. Are we missing items that were our favorite?, absolutely…. Yet as many businesses are trying to survive this more crazy world, changes are taking place. With that being said, our first visit as it became Mexican we were satisfied, yet the menu was small. So, we waited another couple of weeks and went back, the menu had grown, more new items to try, we each had delicious meals. I had the coconut shrimp tacos, and they were amazing, the sweet salsa with the shrimp was so yummy, my husband had the chimichanga which he said was great! We just visited again a week later, I had the same item, which I will say this time was not the same, first time tender shrimp and breading, this time over cooked, reminded me of hush puppies, so hard I had to remove them from my taco to eat with knife and fork. Everything still tasted good just not the same as my first time having this entree. However, this won’t stop us from returning, so many scenarios could have happened, if I order again and not happy I’ll just get another item.
