12/6/16, 10:15 am Went into Mitsu-Ken stood on the right side of the food display case. There were two customers to my left, one waiting for his order, the other waiting to order. There were two employees on the other side of the case who I am going to assume were working. One of the employees at the cashiers position took an order from a customer, placed it, received it, gave it to the customer and collected payment. The customer next to me received his order and left. During this time a Chinese woman reached around from behind me and took a menu which was on the counter of the display case. I waited for the two employees behind the display case to take my order but they ignored me. The Chinese woman walked around me and placed an order with the cashier. The two employees continued to ignore me or even acknowledge my presence. I became angry at this point looked at the three of them and walked out. I never said a word because I know with this type of a situation it is better to leave rather than make a scene. When I backed out of the parking stall in front of Mitsu-Ken the two employees realized I was no longer in front of them as I drove away. So the lesson is if you have time to waste, want to be ignored, want to be with rude customers who cut you off, and encounter employees who do not want to do their jobs go to Mitsu-Ken. BTW I am Chinese, have had my own successful food business for 19 years and understand a little bit about customer service, and I never got to order my Mitsu-Ken Bento and...

Crowded parking.

Cash only.

Crowds are very friendly and fun, but the people working behind the counter are little less so. They're stressed, I get it.

Nowhere to eat.

The counter is super tight. If you have a stroller, you are not going to fit in the door if there is a line. And there is usually a line.

There is no ticket pull system. You just got to ask the people around there if they're the last in line. Do not try to cut in line. Because Kalihi.

They do not answer their phone.

There is no website.

There is no email. This is pretty much as old-school as it gets. I am kind of amazed they even have a telephone there.

The garlic chicken yes, is good. The meatloaf and gravy less so. Overall, catering is great & their breakfast specials and value are very good, but the knife fight to get there and the poor customer service and meager options when you order leave much to be desired. I like the food, hate the quest to...

Been going to this place for years devouring their breakfast specials. Good value for your money, very popular with the locals; not like Rainbows which is now overrun by tourists.

Their breakfast specials are da bomb. If you're into salty, greasy, fatty, heart clogging, gravy saturated food, then you have finally arrived at heaven's Gate.

Dark meat chicken pieces with skin on deep fried to a crispy golden brown infused with garlic. Grilled Portuguese sausage slices, bacon almost burned to a crisp. White rice soaked in grease and salty gravy. All topped off with 2 eggs any style.

Peak breakfast and lunch hours generate long lines of hungry local workers craving for their daily fix of salt and grease.

It may not be good for your heart but it sure is damn good for your soul.

Yolo and forget about the world's problem just...

Finally got back to this place on a lunch run in Kalihi. When you want a hearty local style brekkie plate with the famous garlic chicken that will leave a lasting reminder when you burp all day this is the place yessa🤙 The place moved a couple years ago to a newer shopping plaza with ample parking across New City Nissan, and now accepts credit card and they also answer the phone to take phone orders so that helps make the lines here shorter... Iykyk. I always get the Breakfast Combo special deluxe with garlic chicken, 2 bacon, scrambled eggs and fried rice. A classic local brekkie when youre hungry. Prices have gone up so its around $13 bucks plus tax but its comfort food. Support local.... 5 stars🤙🤙

Great place to pickup a bento for a trip to the beach. If you’re in the mood for an okazuya, then you’ve found this gem in Kalihi. However, you need to go early or risk having items sold out. They were out of shrimp and vegetable tempura and chow fun when we visited around 11:30 a.m. I would’ve given 5 stars if they still had tempura and chow fun. The Mitsu-Ken and fried saimin bentos were reasonably priced ($8.50). The service was fast. Bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards. I visited again and got a mini bento for $7.00 the price of a larger bento is now $9.00.
