Glad we stopped in here while on a road trip. Not your typical rest-stop type restaurant and shop set up, this far exceeded my expectations as soon as we walked in. The restaurant and seating areas were super clean, even the bathroom- with a line of people waiting- was very clean. Whoever manages this place is staying on top of things, with so much traffic in & out of this place it was pretty impressive how nice it’s kept up. The restaurant had a great selection of breakfast items or full breakfast meals, large assortment of boar’s head cold cuts and cheese, burgers, lobster rolls, lunch specials, salads, soups, and different types of fresh coffee and juice. We ordered burgers and they were really good. Good quality and super tasty, cooked fresh when we ordered. Even though the food is made to order, it still came out extremely fast, and the service was friendly and professional. There is also a store/gift-shop that sells snacks and nice souvenirs, not junky stuff like a lot of roadside stops. If we’re passing through this area again we’ll definitely stop in, grab a coffee and try something else...
Read moreAll the other Common Man locations are completely separate from this atrocity, in my opinion. The service tends to go from really horrible to really great depending on what time you show up to eat, but overall, this particular review isn't about the restaurant...
It's about the general store in the same building. Unfortunately, Google doesn't have any information on the general store, but I know it's a division of the same company, and prices are controlled by the same group of people.
18 bucks for a 12-pack of out-of-brewery-fresh-date Tuckerman's Pale Ale?? Mind you, this is the MOST commonly sold Pale Ale in the state, and prices barely ever get above 13 bucks for a FRESH 12-pack anywhere else.
That, ladies and gentleman, is what actual business leaders like to call "price gouging". I called the store and notified the general manager, and demanded he take them off the shelves so that no other person would get ripped off like me.
His response: "Lemme call you back in 15 minutes." 2 1/2 weeks later...still waiting...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite burger spots in NH. It is located inside a glorified highway rest stop off I-93, but (no joke) my wife and I will actually drive here for lunch. Consistently great food - love the bacon blue burger and the roadside burger, and the baked goods are a guilty pleasure. Staff is always friendly at the restaurant. A while back I gave a compliment to the GM and he gave me free cookies. And then outed me to my wife for sneaking burgers on my way home from work :) Interestingly, I have been less impressed with other Common Man locations (main location in Concord is a bit overpriced with mediocre food IMHO). But the Roadside location always hits the spot. I even recommended that a team from a New York Park Avenue PR agency (that was here to do a promo campaign for NH) stop here to grab lunch on their way up to the White Mountains. They probably thought I was crazy, but I...
