Nori has three locations. This is their newest location. What's the best things about Nori? Friendly staff, quick service, and most importantly quality authentic "thai" or Asian flavors. They are now known for their sushi Sunday. Their sushi is top quality fresh ingredients. Their hibachi resonates with the flavors of authentic teriyaki sauces. Unlike other locations nearby that drowns their rice in margarine (oil) and more oil, their rice is cooked perfectly as an Asian restaurant. If you want authentic hibachi, this is the place to go. It's far better than the other two locations nearby and within the same price range. If you love great sushi at an affordable price visit one of the Nori restaurants on a Sunday. BTW, a restaurant that does not specialize in Korean food, the kim chee in the bento was seasoned just right, you could taste the hint of ginger like a great banchan should encapsulate.

I think we found our favorite family restaurant in Hoover! We went to dinner for my birthday this evening, it was an overall wonderful experience. The staff was great. Drinks were never empty and once dishes were used they were cleared quickly. They even brought me out fried ice cream with a candle and sang happy birthday to me without my husband asking, very sweet. Our hibachi cook was so funny, my 3 kids loved him. The owner (believe his name is August) talked to us after dinner and made a note to know each of our names. One of the nicest guys you will meet. This place is a must visit, you will not be disappointed!! We will obviously be back with the kids and I have heard their Ramen is amazing so will be back just the husband and I for a day date.

If you’re craving great sushi, ramen, or hibachi in Hoover, look no further than Nori! This hidden gem delivers a great dining experience- On our recent visits (yes, we went twice in one week—it’s that good), we tried the 205 and Volcano rolls, and both were absolutely delicious. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their ramen is equally fantastic, making this our go-to spot for comfort food or date night. And if hibachi is your thing, skip the tired chains like Sumo (yuck) or Stix and treat yourself to a fresh, modern take at Nori. The restaurant has a chill vibe, good music mix, and is really clean. Plus they recently got their liquor license :) Highly recommend—hope they’re in Hoover for a long time!

We went here for lunch and ordered three bowls of Ramen noodles and a shrimp tempura. First, the tempura is not an authentic tempura - it is sweetened and probably an altered version to cater to Americanized tastes. But, tempura was just an appetizer for us so I can let that go (better if they can serve authentic Japanese tempura in the future). Now let me talk about the main dishes we ordered: the Ramen noodles we ordered are Tonkotsu black (#1 on the menu), Tonkotsu spicy (#2) and shoyu ramen. As a ramen connoisseur, I have eaten the best ramen in Tokyo, Osaka, Okinawa, Hong Kong, New York, Atlanta. Nori's ramen is not quite at the top level yet, but comparing to other Ramen places in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, it is probably within the top two. On an absolute scale, I'd rank it as very good (with excellent being the top, very good being the next slot down). Things that are done well: the noodles' firmness is just right (we tried the thin noodles only), the broth is thick, rich and flavorful, the chashu is flavorful and melts in your mouth, the portion in one bowl is good. Things that can be improved: (1) the broth is just a tiny bit too salty. (2) There are only a handful of customers when we were there at around 1:30pm, with only one table of customers eating hibachi. However, the air smells oily and the floor is sticky as well. My suggestions are: (1) the broth can just be just a little less salty + the taste profile of the broth can be not only rich (which it already is), but actually more complex, then the noodles can be closer to perfection. (2) Better air circulation and ventilation. If these aspects can be incorporated, this restaurant has the potential to be serving the best ramen in the greater Birmingham area!

Note: I wonder if their broth had MSG added. I have refrained from eating any instant Ramen (which contains MSG in their flavor pack) since a long time ago, but whenever I encounter MSG in any food my body usually gives me very distinctive signatures that are telling. These signatures did appear after my...

If you’re searching for a restaurant that delivers both an unforgettable meal and an immersive experience, look no further—this incredible Asian fusion restaurant exceeds every expectation.

From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a vibrant ambiance that perfectly balances elegance with energy. But the real magic begins when the food and show start.

Let’s talk sushi first—an explosion of color, freshness, and flavor. Each piece is a work of art, from the jewel-toned tuna and salmon to delicate rolls bursting with creamy avocado, crisp cucumber, and just the right amount of heat. The sushi chefs clearly take pride in their craft, and every bite reflects that passion.

Then came the show—a true feast for the senses. The teppanyaki grill lights up with dancing flames, clanging knives, and a chef who delivers both skill and humor. It’s part dinner, part performance, and totally captivating.

As for the entrées? Absolutely flawless. The New York strip was perfectly charred on the outside, tender and juicy inside—rich with flavor and expertly seasoned. The filet mignon practically melted in the mouth, buttery and succulent without being heavy. And the scallops? Seared to golden perfection with a delicate sweetness that paired beautifully with their seasoning.

Everything—from the attentive service to the plate presentation—was chef’s kiss.

This isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply craving a next-level dinner, Nori is worth every bite and every second....

I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. I ordered a coconut soup as an appetizer, but it took so long to arrive that my main course was served before it. By the time the soup finally came, I had already finished my meal. The same thing happened to my sister—she ordered a side of broccolini, and it only arrived after she had finished her plate.

On top of that, there were multiple mix-ups with our drink orders. My sister asked for a Pepsi and was given a Sprite. I ordered a Pepsi and received a Pepsi Zero instead. It felt like nothing we ordered was correct.

While the food itself was great, the service was terrible. I mentioned to a different waitress that I needed a to-go box for the soup since it came too late, and she kindly apologized and told me it would be removed from the bill. However, when I checked the receipt, I was still charged for it.

Overall, it was an incredibly frustrating and unpleasant experience. Despite the good food, the poor service and disorganization make it a place I would...
