This is a small town restaurant in Hopedale (pop. ~900). It has a unique ambiance that alone makes the experience worth it. If you pay attention you'll see tables made out of repurposed sowing machine bases, a bar top that lights up like a molten river of lava, excellent use of wood and pipe and other unique design aspects...it's not what you expect from the outside...
Now on to what matters most: Service - Friendly and courteous. Food - Excellent. Overall - While out of the way for us we had a good experience and will be coming back. Special Note - Currently they only except cash with an ATM easily accessible across the street.
Synopsis: We went with the Family - 3 boys and my Wife. They had Pizza and Burgers, and I had a 16 oz. steak. The kids and my wife said the pizza and burgers were good. My steak was cooked as ordered (medium rare). The steak itself was excellent. I'm not sure where they get their meat but I've had similar steaks at "steak places" that were tough and chewy with lots of gristle...NOT HERE...I pretty much ate it all except for a few tallow pieces. If you are in the mood for a steak don't let the "bar and grille" atmosphere deter you and go ahead with confidence in ordering as it...
Read moreWent on a Saturday evening with a group of friends. The place came highly recommended by several people. And Micki's did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in it was a wonderful experience. We were greeted and seated promptly with a smile. Didn't know what to expect but it's not a stuffy, fancy place but a very charming and friendly atmosphere, a small town restaurant with a nice bar. Their signature dish is their 16+oz marinated ribeye, this particular evening it was served w/ corn and mashed potatoes and gravy. The mashed potatoes were really good, the corn was probably the best I've ever had from a restaurant and the steak, was nothing short of amazing. Someone did their homework with this, perfectly marinated. It had just a hint of sweetness mixed with the grilled/char flavor and was melt in your mouth tender. One of the best steaks I've ever had, and I've had a few. The owner waited our table and was the most down to earth pleasant person that I've ever met. She elevated the experience completely. It was a 35min drive from Bloomington,IL. and worth every minute. If you are ever in the Hopedale,IL area you need to...
Read moreMy son said it is melt in your mouth steak every time he has been here. Three of the four of us chose the ribeye at $52 a plate, which doesn't include salad at a "farm to table" lol. If you do get the salad, it is served on a saucer so tiny you cannot toss it without losing half of it. When my daughter finally got hers, it had no cucumber as if she requested it that way, however loves them. The dinner came with fresh off the cob corn and baked potato that was undercooked and dry for supposably having butter and sour cream in it. All three steaks had an excellent flavor, however, were extremely chewy. We all just brought them home and it may have been a fluke, but for that kind of money and only open three days a week, it should be melt in your mouth perfection every time. As you can see from my picture, its practically untouched. That being said the Busch Light onion rings were 💯🔥just delicious! I should have went with the tenderloin 😂😂.... Story of my life. The staff was great, the atmosphere awesome, and the very young man serving our food was...
