My family LOVES this place. I did too, until yesterday. (Apologies in advance, because I'm furious.)
Our party of 10 was seated in a semi-private room (like an alcove off the main dining area). No problem, they've put us there often. The room is arranged with six small tables in two rows of three, which means some guests have to sit with their backs to each other. My aunt prefers that we all share a table, so we moved two small tables to the end of the other row and all sat together. The last 2-person table was left unoccupied, and we used it for our cell phones and other personal effects. We apologized to the waitress since she couldn't circle the tables but offered to pass the plates around when our entrees came. She didn't seem upset about it. Towards the end of our meal, the host brought another family into the room and seated them at our unused table. We had to relocate our phones and purses to the table where we were eating, which was no problem. But the incoming party was a family of FIVE. And they were crammed around a table that would have been crowded for three. They asked to speak to a manager and mentioned that they had seen at least one empty booth in the main dining area but were told that they were wrong. (On my way out less than ten minutes later, l passed THREE empty booths.) The manager apologized and said this tiny table - which wouldn't even have been available if we hadn't moved the others around - was the only seating they had. When the arriving guests received their drinks, there wasn't even enough room on the table for all of their drinks and the menus. My daughter offered to clean off the table we were sitting at, but the family declined. They were understandably upset and uncomfortable trying to share that tiny table but didn't want to cause a scene.
What kind of restaurant seats a party of FIVE at a table-for-two? If they didn't have reservations and the facility honestly doesn't have an appropriately-sized table, either put them on a waiting list or apologize, tell them you're overbooked, and give them a voucher for a free dessert the next time they come.
(My daughter and the visiting family believe this mistreatment was racially motivated; l don't know whether that's true, but the bottom line is that any family paying money to eat good food in a nice restaurant deserves to have a seating arrangement that accommodates them comfortably.)
I've been to the Green Olive hundreds of times and have never been disappointed with the food. But whoever mishandled that seating situation should be ashamed of themselves. My daughter, her fiancee, and l will...
Read moreTook 10 minutes to get a server to greet us. Ordered diet coke and received something from a fountain that tasted more like flat RC. They do have cans of soda so be sure to ask for a can. Looked to my left and saw something on the salt that upon zooming in with a photo looked like a bug. After letting the server know, they came back showed me it was actually a price of metal from the salt shaker top. Cool not eating bugs but eating metal is better I guess. Server was very nice though. Onto the nachos... They put chili sauce instead of salsa on the nachos... Very strange. So chili nachos is what it should actually say on the menu. The salad was very humorous because it looked fantastic when it was put on the table, until you got underneath the "show lettuce" I'll call it. Once you got past the fresh salad underneath was wilting and old greens. Old trick but still in fashion! I got a turkey club and my guest got a chicken breast meal with fries on the side. Fries never came, and my guest is presently firmly affixed to the toilet. The walls were dirty and the booths were ripped. In my guests' booth she had a board coming up into the middle of the seat cushion. She had to sit to one side of it or the other.
Final Thoughts: Very little care by the management/owners here is the only conclusion I can come up with. The store looks amazing from the outside, but the inside... Not so much. When the dining room looks like this you can imagine what the kitchen looks like. I would say only eat here if you were given a gift card like I was. The only saving grace was the server. He was ultra nice and accommodating. He should be working somewhere else because he's way too good for the environment that he...
Read moreThis is the last time we will order from this place. We order the same thing, EVERY TIME! And there is ALWAYS something wrong! We always order the pecan chicken salad with mixed greens. This time there’s no pecans whatsoever on this salad and there’s enough walnut pieces that I can count them on two hands. This is not mixed greens. This is iceberg lettuce with a couple of pieces of other greens in it. As you can see, the tomatoes are rotten and even have mold on them. The bread tastes like it was made an hour ago and re-toasted. What kind of restaurant are you running over there? We live super close and the salad used to be on point and so good, seriously have been ordering them for the past year. It’s all we eat from this place. After numerous complaints to them where they give you a 10% discount off of a $15 bullshit salad. Today we paid over $30 for two salads and as you can see by the pictures, not worth it at all with moldy tomatoes, no pecans And no mixed green straight up iceberg. This place is a rip off and I don’t know who’s running it now but you need to go back to the old managers or whoever’s in charge of the kitchen because it absolutely sucks! Even the chicken is not the same, they’re putting 6 to 7 strips when they used to put 10 to 12 pretty large very well-made strips of chicken. For a place in Hopewell, this is Absolutely by far the worst place in our little Township , terrible! Do not eat here . If you can’t even make a salad right without putting fresh food in it and doing what the customer requests, Do not waste your...
