Alamo Tamales seems to be a really nice place to taste real Mexican food. Prices are really high. The food I have to admit that is really good and that’s why I was ok to pay for the overpriced.
Also, I want to say that I was a regular client and I used to go there for lunch in several occasions until yesterday where I had a terrible experience with some employees of this restaurant.
Yesterday I was treated super bad by two employees of the restaurant especially the security lady who works there.
I took my food and then I went to the bakery to get some sweets to compliment my lunch and I went to pay there, but the bakery lady said that I could not pay with her because I had food and she sent me back to the restaurant cashier with my food and two sweets I collected from the bakery.
When I got to the restaurant cashier lady she saw everything I had on my tray and I told her I was there to pay. She did charge me accordingly and I went to enjoy my lunch when suddenly the bakery lady came to me and interrupted by lunch just to say that I didn’t pay for the sweets and that It was my responsibility to tell the restaurant cashier lady to charge me for the 2 sweets I got.
She made feel super bad like if I was stealing food when in reality I went to her first and she refused to charge me and sent me back to the restaurant area to pay. Also, to blame me for their mistake of not charging all items properly was an insult.
Then I told her that I would go and pay for the sweets later because I was already eating.
Then to make things even worse the security lady which honestly is a super rude person approached me to interrupt my lunch for a second time and came to tell me that I have to pay for the sweets and in a very rude tone she began to accuse me again that it was my fault that I was responsible to tell the restaurant cashier to charge me for all items and she made me feel again like if I wanted to steal food when in reality I went to two cashiers to pay for the food I got.
That was a humiliation that these two employees did against me and I felt so uncomfortable that I couldn’t enjoy the food I paid for and frankly I am not coming back to such a terrible place where they have a terrible customer service.
Then I went to the bakery and I paid for all the sweets they should have charged me in the first place but they didn’t.
Never coming back to such a rude place.
I really appreciate if management can retrain these employees because they made my lunch time extremely miserable.

Read moreI came today for the first time after I was told how great this place was multipletimes over the years. Hyped the food, specially the tamales. I got there parking was ample, exterior was nice, interior was also nice and restrooms smelled great and were clean.
Food wise I ordered 1 beef and 1 chicken pastel. Beef was okay could've used more Seasoning and the chicken was a weird sweet taste. I thought it was the pastry but no the chicken had a sweet taste to it. Both pastel bread was soggy and cold even though they were in heating trays.
I ordered 2 bacon and egg tacos on corn tortillas. Tortillas were good size, good egg amount but barely any bacon.
I also ordered 1 Chicharrón en salsa verde on corn with beans. They barely added any beans and the salsa was watered down. No flavor, no spice, lacking salt. I've had better green salsa from a can.
I ordered 1 chicken mole on corn. The sauce was watery not thickened, no flavor again. No chile flavor, couldn't taste the cumin, garlic, dry chiles, peanut or chocolate most moles have. It was underwhealming.
I also grabbed salsas from the bar area. They were all watered down. The only thing that had a bit of flavor was the Pico De Gallo which lacked lime and salt.
We also ordered tamales. Spinach and cheese and also the chicken. The spinach was okay and the chicken was sad and flavorless. I was disappointed not to see chile con rajas. Again the red sauce was watery, no dry chile flavor. The masa was too dry and crumbly on both. The tamales where pretty small for almost $2 each.
I'm not sure if they changed management, or the recipe has changed but this food tasted more Americanized. Nothing screamed authentic Mexican. I would not willingly drive back here to eat again. If I am in the area and I am invited to come then I would come and try the other items in the menu. But even then I do not believe it would change flavor on the other items. The lack of seasoning and spice tells me that this restaurant has changed it's ways. No way this restaurant has been open this long serving bland Mexican food. I wouldn't spend my money here again. Hopefully they can take this criticism and adjust the flavors...
Read moreClean, festive, and a large variety of food. It's hard to know what all is available and I might have made some different choices had I known what was further down the line. It's a long cafeteria-style line! My recommendation is to go browse the line before you get started and don't feel rushed by anyone's impatience. The service was quick and accommodating (half of us spoke Spanish and the rest not). We were there about 9:30am on a Thursday. Kind of at the end of breakfast, but everything still looked fresh or restocked. We had some breakfast tacos, a pork and chicharrones(?) in green chili taco, and a pork in red sauce taco, as well as two pork tamales. If you dine in, there's a salsa bar available. I likes the pork in red sauce. I did not like the green sauce at all. The tamales, while husks burnt (perhaps a reheating method) and on the steam table, were taken into the back to be heated up (the server did this immediately as she recognized they were cold). They were dry and crunchy. Of the salsas and condiments available (I LOVE salsas and sauces!), the only one I liked was the red salsa. The egg tacos were average. The flour tortillas were good (but nothing as good as Brothers Tacos - what I compare all breakfast tacos to). The abundance of signage warning about parking and vandalism was honest and appreciated but a bit scary. We got a few items from the panaderia before leaving. A good selection. The conchas were moist- yay! Just needed some good coffee. The last time we were here was about 12 years ago. My have they grown! Glad to have stopped in again and happy for their success. It's not close to my favorite, so may be as long...
