Burger Tex — Restaurant in Houston

This was my second time to try out this great local hamburger joint! Both times I’ve been thrilled with the hot, fresh, and tasty food!

The burger is made in the classic Texas Diner way with a nice, crispy texture. Both the top and bottom buns are toasted. I got mine with cheese and bacon! Here they offer a condiment bar which allows you to dress your burger the way you want! Mayo, mustard, hot sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, picked jalapeño, pico de Gallo, and even melted cheese sauce! They offer disposable gloves for those who don’t wish to share utensils.

The first time, I opted for onion rings - they were substantial, with a thick coating. Great flavor, but maybe a little too much breading for my taste.

The fries are nice and thick crinkle cut with a good crunchy exterior and a dash of seasoning salt to top them off!

They also offer fried fish and shrimp, and selection of plate lunches - from ribeyes and Tbones to pork chops abs chicken!

I stopped here by chance. First customer of the day right at open. I give this place a 5 for several reasons:

Food is fresh, hot and made to order. The menu set up, options and ordering process are straight forward and simple. The restaurant is structured like an old fashioned burger joint. The grill is right behind the cash register and there is a condiment stand with all of the fixings to the right.

Burger, in my opinion wasn’t the best in town BUT it is still a 5/5. Patty does have a great flavor so don’t listen to the negative reviews they are not true. Bun is top quality and what I liked most was this burger is not dripping with grease and sodium.

Fries were hot, thick and crisp. Also generously portioned.

Price - Overall decently priced compared to other burger restaurants.

Burger Tex is a great spot on Gessner to come for lunch. Orders are processed pretty fast so you don't have to wait too long for your food and waste your lunch hour.

They even have daily lunch specials that includes fries and a drink. I would recommend the Bulgogi Burger with fries. The homemade burger buns are what makes their burgers taste so delicious.

There is a toppings and condiments bar near the counter where you can add what you like to your burger (Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, jalapenos, etc). Even a crock pot of melted cheese for you to add over your fries...
