My boyfriend's ran an errand to pay the deposit for a holiday party to be held here, so we stopped to eat and drink as well. I hadn't been here before, but he had been.
There was a little confusion at first as to how ordering worked. An employee had come to the table the first time he had gone, but after waiting a while, he asked the guy at the counter and found that we were to order there. Maybe the guy thought we were waiting on something having to do with the event we were putting the deposit down for. Anyway, we ordered, and it got smoother from there.
I had the German burger, and Matthew had the tacos. The burger was amazing: mushrooms, onions, a generous portion of specialty meat, and a sweet bun.the tacos were good, but nothing out of the ordinary. We also had drinks. I'm not a beer drinker, so I had the dry cider. It was very good. There was another cider that I'm sure would have been sweet, but I don't care for sweet, so I was very happy with the dry cider. Matthew tried a couple of beers he hadn't had before and was pleased with the selections.
The cook (I believe, maybe the owner? Idk) came out to bring us our food and to check on us. He refilled my drink order and was generally pleasant to talk to. He was helpful and jovial. The front of house staff checked on us throughout, as well.
The atmosphere was rustic; one could say cozy. The garage doors, which serve as walls at times, were up, so I was just a little on the cold side. Other groups were bundled up, but I didn't know before I went, so I just had a light jacket. I'll know for the holiday party! There is a large area outside, but I didn't explore much. I did see that they grow some of their own vegetables and/or spices/herbs.
Overall, the place was pretty great. It's not my absolute favorite kind of place to go every week, but I would be happy to go...
