If you’re not in a hurry, this is the place to go. My son has been having a lot of medical treatments that take is into new areas of Houston. We like to use Google maps to search out highly rated cuisine nearby. That is how we came upon J&J’s. The ladies that took our order were warm and greeted us with smiles and informed us that Tuesday all their burgers are on special. I ordered a Single Cheeseburger with fries My son went in for the Double, and we both got a Coke, served in the can. We waited quite a while for our food, enjoying the R&B music that was playing and chatting. I wouldn’t say it was background music as it was pretty loud, but it contributed to the overall vibe. The server stopped by after a bit assuring us that the food was coming and brought us complementary bottled water. The food… O.M.G. The burgers were hefty and delicious. The fries were fresh and hot. We’ve tried many burgers at highly rated establishments, and this one is my favorite so far in Houston.

I saw this place listed as one of the top 35 black owned restaurants to visit in Houston. And they are truly deserving to be on the list. This small neighborhood gem is welcoming when you walk in the door. Their staff is very friendly and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are visiting your favorite aunt and uncle and they took their time to cook a special meal just for you. I had their chicken tender and shrimp dinner. Their shrimp are a good size, nicely seasoned and fried. Their tenders are mouth watering and the owner tossed them in their sweet and sour wing sauce for me to give them a little zest. I got Koolaid as my drink and it gave me nostalgic feelings of summertime in my hometown in Georgia. I am glad that I chose this place and will not only visit again but recommend to others.

The customer service has never been an issue here anytime I've gone. And the food was better when I would go in the past. But today, I was highly disappointed. I got the grilled pork chops with seafood gravy. The rice was not cooked all the way and there were alot of hard pieces, the so called gravy was very watery amd looked like chicken broth and didn't have much flavor and there were more onions on the late than shrimp and sausage. And for $29, it was so not worth the drive or money. Maybe next time I will stick with a chicken salad or burger basket. The owner was nice and gave me a drink with my food.

There has never been a time I haven't enjoyed eating here but today was not a pleasant one, an all you can eat brunch, 15 bucks and I didn't get nothing but one plate, ordered chicken and waffles ran out of chicken, so I got pork chops waffles, grits and eggs, brought toast instead of waffles, after waiting almost 2 hours for my food, brought my waffles which was dry no butter ask for butter when I got it the waffles were cold pork chops wasn't seasoned had to put hot sauce for taste, to top it off been on the toilet since been home, this was not a good experience today, very disappointed love the fish but didn't want to order any because of...
