My first visit to the Deluxe was last night, for a book launch event, and I was very impressed! The renovation is beautiful and both the theatre itself (seating around 150) and the event space attached at the side are gorgeous. I spent most time in the event space, which is open and airy with high ceilings and lots of natural light. Helping to put on the event was great, as we had assistance from Portia, an employee of the theatre, and the space was well equipped with a commercial fridge, an ice-maker, great counter space and prep area, etc. Just a great space all round.

Be aware of the parking situation - there's none out front, and finding where you need to go is fairly tricky so look it up ahead of time. You can park at the back but the access isn't obvious. But the front has drop-off space and everywhere has wheelchair access, so if you do a little prep ahead of time, you should be...

Our experience at the Deluxe Theater was outstanding from start to finish. Communication leading up to our event was timely, clear, and professional, making the planning process smooth and stress-free. On the day of our event, the venue staff was incredibly supportive—ensuring that all of our audiovisual and space-related needs were fully met.

When we needed to capture a group photo of all our guests, the team went above and beyond by opening up an additional space, allowing us to accommodate everyone comfortably. This level of attentiveness and flexibility made a lasting impression.

From initial planning to the conclusion of our event, the entire experience was positive. We highly recommend the Deluxe Theater to anyone seeking a well-managed, accommodating, and professional...

Went to see a production of R.U.R., and I thought this little theater was amazing. It was small but mighty, with maybe 50 seats total. There's a neat little lobby with a small ticket counter and small but tidy restrooms off to either side of the lobby. Entrance to the theater is flat, and there are places carved out of the seating area to allow for wheelchair users to watch the stage as well. The seats are comfortable with an okay but not great amount of leg room.

The parking situation was not immediately clear from in front of the theater, but our tickets to the show had directions to the lot behind the theater.

All in all, I had an excellent time there, and I'm going to keep an eye out for future shows there. I'd definitely...

The restoration of The DeLuxe is beautiful. I went to a special film screening sponsored by the Houston Public Library's African American Library at the Gregory School. It even included a zoom call with the audience on the screen. The parking lot in the back is brightly lit and has plenty of spaces. I can't wait to host an event there or go to another screening. Simply beautiful.

Greetings and Welcome to October. I recently attended the Houston Black Theater Week Awards, and I also presented an award. What a great theater. The staff was warm, friendly smiles smiles. I felt right at home that I plan to visit more throughout the 2024 2025 season. Check out this 5th Ward treasure ASAP.
