Mama Mia — Restaurant in Houston

The inside decor was so cute and aesthetic! They really put a lot of emphasis on the sugarcane theme within their store, which is a great thing. The service was okay. I had ordered a large Mama Mia Special ($7.85) and my other family member ordered a large Fresh Coconut Juice ($7.39) and a Durian Waffle ($4.62). To start off, the Fresh Coconut Juice tasted perfect! According to my family member, the taste was not overly sweet, as it has a fresh taste. The Durian Waffle was also made perfectly! The outside was crunchy, but the inside was so soft with durian fillings. The waffle was not overly sweet and tasted awesome. As for the Mama Mia Special, the taste was good and they already added plenty of tasty toppings in the drink such as coconut meat, pineapple, strawberry, and chia seeds. Coconut juice was added in the drink with the sugarcane juice, which was interesting. The downside was that they added too much ice in their drinks, which made me feel like they cheated us with the sizing because of that. Also, the price was a bit high for the Fresh Coconut Juice. There was no toppings in it; only juice. Because of that; I expected it to be around $4 or $5 maximum. In fact, every juice drink on the menu was really pricy. If they include toppings in the drink already, then I would understand, but toppings cost extra excluding the Mama Mia Special. If it wasn't for the downsides, I would rate it a full 5 stars. Overall, I would still come back if I'm in the area, but only at a special time because of the price. I would definitely ask them to put less ice next...

How are you locals not here every day?

Took a 20 min detour to Mama Mia on a cross country trip because I had been craving and coming up short on my sugarcane juice needs.

So when it's fresh and the machine is crushing the sugarcane, you can't really go wrong with it. It's nice that they offer other flavors and toppings here, but honestly, I'm not of that audience. Original (Mia) all the way for me please. Awesome plus is they use small ice cubes and a lot of it, which is just absolutely perfect.

What's even more perfect? The picky eater needed food and they have bahn mis here. The guy who helped me knew exactly what kind of picky eater he would be and made the most spot-on recommendation. Picky eater loved it. I, on the other hand, wished I had the foresight to have ordered my own with all the fixings. The meat and the sauce was amazing though and the bread could not be improved upon (it was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside).

Possibly the item of my dreams is the pandan waffle. It is everything I have never knew I wanted in a waffle that I have since not been able to find anywhere else. It simultaneously was reminiscent of a childhood snack while being so mind-blowingly good, I know I've never had it before. Their pandan waffles are...

AVOID At ALL COST!!!!! OVER-PRICED. TERRIBLE SERVICE. UNBELIEVABLY RUDE OWNER. What a total nightmare! 3 staff with only ONE order and somehow they were all "Busy." I literally stood there for 10 mins while all three staff avoiding to take my order. Not a single soul said, "Hi or I will be right with you." Like how on earth is this customer service still existing????? Thought I might want to bring it up to their attention that I am still waiting to ORDER. So I said:  “Excuse me” twice and Nobody answered then again“ Excuse me… Can I order?” ( just to let them know that I would like to order and that I was not with the girl in front of me). A young dude came up ( can tell it's the rude owner that other yelp reviews have already mentioned a TON) literally yelled: “Yes, what’s your problem, dont you see I am busy with the other orders???” (Well, mind your manner). He made me feel like I was begging for a free drink and I still need to pay him for that special drink. Been supporting your business, even though the price is high, couple of bad customer service experiences- but this is SO NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! If you have enough money to run a business, you should have enough money to buy Customer Services books. Would definitely give it a 0...
