After 6 months of working in the Heights, I am still discovering new burger spots. Recently, I read about Mytiburger. Since 1967, this retro burger joint has served up "Texas-style burgers, fries, homemade onion rings, and just about anything else you can put bacon and cheese on". Why wouldn't I want to check it out?!
Walking inside, I was greeted with several "Welcome to Mytiburger" chants from their staff. I ordered their Mytiburger with cheese, adding my usual lettuce, onion, and light mayo. Then I was asked if I wanted fries, onion rings, tator tots, sweet potato fries, etc. My choice, plus a medium drink was included for $7.25! I chose the sweet potato fries, paid, and waited for my order. This burger blogger was hungry!
It was during the waiting period that I observed the crowd. A gentleman wearing a high school team polo; two guys dining together, with one on the phone talking about computers, and the other excusing himself to check on somthing at the service station across the street. A variety of neighborhood locals enjoyed their burgers at the other tables. There was no question that this was a favorite of the locals!
My name was called - I went to the counter to retreive the bag containing my burger and fries - back to the table I went. That burger was classic old-school - toasted bun, thin seasoned patty, melted cheese! Reminiscent of burgers from my childhood, I literally was taken back to that time, in the late 1960s, when I was enjoying a burger with my Dad. Bite after bite, never putting the burger down, I ate with pleasure. Every now and then, I'd eat a couple sweet potato fries, but the main attraction here was the burger.
While this burger was neither original or unique, it was satisfying and tasty. As I walked out, I told my new friend at the counter that I would be back and I would bring friends. She, who had eaten here since she was a child herself, seemed so pleased that we'd be meeting again. This place was friendly, familiar, and welcoming. Add a good burger to that mix, and who wouldn't want to visit often? Do you want to join...
Read moreWent here as a first time customer and as well to my experience it sucked honestly the place looks supper ran down not clean at all What they call a drive thru is a stop sign and a speaker that looks like a camera The menu is confusing and the numbers are covered up online is completely different The guy or kid working here was not very friendly when trying to take my order I had never been here so I was not sure how the menu worked and with his attitude he ended up not being able to take my order so a lady came on and finally got through my order After repeating my Oder all she told me was to pull to the window never giving me a total or anything I waited at the window for 15 mins with no one coming to greet me tell me my total or anything finally when I was about to give up and pull off a young boy came to the window and charged me upon me asking for the recipe he had absolutely no intention of Giving me one he didn’t even know how to print it The food was definitely not work $32 The fries that they call “large” are about a handful can’t imagine what they call a small what 2 fries? The chicken finger basket was suppose to come with onions and gravy never once mention it was half fries and half onion rings they only gave me 3 onion rings for a large Oder of chicken finger baskets and a small amount of fries the price is ridiculous for the Customer service and good amount and quality definitely would not recommend going. Here if you want your moneys worth of food they also don’t give you bags just separate paper bags that rip apart I will not be returning here can’t believe this is considered one of Houston’s best spots there is most definitely way better burger joints with better pricing for your money and home made such as house of fries WAY better service...
Read moreQuiet neighborhood counter service burger joint. Go somewhere else if you're looking 2 pound aged Kobe mega burger covered in exotic toppings served with truffle sweet potato fries. This is old school cooked to order burgers and fries handed to you in a white paper bag. Made pretty much they way the probably did when they opened in 1967. The menu offers a variety of patty combinations along with Chicken fried steak and alternative sandwiches such as BLT, Chicken, Buffalo and Turkey. Sides cover the usual fries, tots and onion rings. Beverages include shakes, tea and fountain drinks . For this visit, I selected the Texas favorite; CFS sandwich and fries. The CFS was o Probably not hand breaded on site, but was one of the better ones I've had in a while. Thick, not overly breaded, but tender with the classic CFS flavor. The fries crispy on the out side and soft on the inside were a perfect pairing. The vibe was chill on the Saturday afternoon I visited. Most of the patrons were picking up to go orders. A couple of other patrons sat inside talking about cars. As I finished my meal while sitting at one of their cafe tables , a trio of young teens rolled up on bikes and a skateboard and shared a basket of fries while taking about video games and camping. Worth the visit if you're in the neighborhood or need to escape the strip malls and hoity...
