Won't go back to this location. I've been here three times and every single time the woman who works here is so rude.
One morning I took my three year old here for a donut date by herself since we recently had a baby. I wanted to do something special and one on one with her and all she wanted was to go get donuts, but our regular shop was closed as it was a holiday. I called this location to make sure they were open before I drove there and the lady who answered was extremely rude. I went anyways because I didn't want to disappoint my daughter.
We arrived, bought our donuts, and as my daughter sat in her chair she tripped and fell and dropped her donut. I got back in line to get her a new donut. When I got up to the front I said, "My daughter dropped her donut, I need to buy a new one." I repeated this three times as the lady stared at me. Finally I just blurted out, "I need to buy another donut!" She turned around without saying anything grabbed exactly the same donut my daughter had before, even though she was acting like this was he first time she was seeing me. All she said to me was the price of the donut and nothing else. When I order from somewhere I'm always courteous and kind, saying please and thank you, but this lady acknowledges none of that. Not even a thank you for my business. As we were leaving the store my daughter waved at the lady and said, "Thank you! Have a good day!" The lady didn't say a word. Come on! She's a three year old and she's being a sweetheart! At least acknowledge her. My daughter looked at me with a sad face as we walked out.
Everybody has their bad days, however not once in the three times I've been in here has anybody that works here cracked a smile or said thank you. After reading a couple of the disgusting and unsanitary reviews of this place I will certainly not bring my child here for donuts. I wish I'd seen them sooner! I'll stick with my regular shop. I only came here because they were the only donut shop that was open.
As for the donuts, they're donuts. Just regular plain old donuts. Nothing spectacular. Nothing special. Definitely not anything to write home about.
I'll take my business somewhere that it's...
Read moreI've tried not to write this review but after this morning I have no choice. First let me say I've been eating Shipley Doughnuts since I was a child and I'm now in my 50s. I've eaten at Shipleys all over Houston and many throughout Texas. Unfortunately for me, the Shipleys next to me is also the worst I've ever eaten at. Let me start with my all time favorite, a regular plain glaze doughnut. For some reason the glaze is always light compared to other locations. I've mentioned that before to no avail. Second, and this has happened many times, sausage cheese jalapeño kolaches are so inconsistent. Today I purchased two of them. In both kolaches I had one jalapeño. A nearly 5 inch long kolache and one jalapeño. I had to add my own from fridge. Sorry Shipleys on El Dorado. It's doughnuts and kolaches. How hard can...
