This restaurant is very nice and the food is good. This is rather a long review but it’s also an unusual story. I rated it low because we were charged twice for our dinner. We used our debit card and did not realize we hadt been charged twice until a few days later when I was online looking at our bank account and saw 2 separate charges right together for Zammitti’s. Our dinner was $48.91. My husband added a $10 tip. There was a charge for $48.91 and right above it a charge for 58.91. I think the waiter entered the charge for our dinner before we signed the bill and then entered the amount again with the $10 tip added. I went to the restaurant and showed them my bank account online showing the two separate charges. The young lady I spoke with was super nice and apologetic and said she would check into it and call me back the next day. By the way, the owner was standing just 3 or 4 feet away, heard what I was saying and never once said a word to me or showed any interest in what I was saying. The young lady called me several days later (after I sent an Email inquiring what they had determined about the double charge) Again she was super nice and she was just the messenger, but I could not believe what she told me. The first charge for $48.91 was just a pre-authorization and I wasn’t really charged for that amount and within 7 days it should fall off my bank account. If it did not, I should call my bank and see if they could remove it. If they could not remove it, to call her back. I was dumbfounded that they were asking me and my bank to fix their mistake. Again, she is just the messenger. It has been two weeks and it is still a debit on our bank account and I am not going to call my bank and ask them to fix their mistake. And why would my bank believe me anyway? If they had just said, hey, we can’t take it off your bank account but we will give you a credit, I would have been happy. However, I will not be going back and neither will the other 2 couples who were with us even though it’s a good restaurant. It’s just the principle of the thing and a crazy way to...
Read morePretty impressed on our first time here! The complimentary garlic knots are amazing and very filling. The shrimp scampi toast appetizer was delicious with a creamy sauce vs a butter garlic sauce.
I had the chicken piccata, which was moist and delicious. The roasted vegetables were plentiful and I finished them leaving about 1/3 of the chicken. Large enough portions to split.
Husband had the Caesar which was cold, crunchy and just the right amount of dressing. But no freshly ground Parmesan? Kinda odd for an authentic Italian restaurant.
Our relatives split the chicken Parmesan and it was plenty. Nice wine list and the house merlot and Pinot Grigio were good too.
Nice atmosphere, nice view of the lake! The bathroom doors are works of art!
Only complaint was our waiter Brandon, who although was efficient and polite, did not seem to understand we were there for a leisurely meal. He was clearly hurrying us along. It was a Thursday night and they weren’t packed. We told him we needed five minutes to look over the menu and he said “ok, time starts now”. He’s young and was great other than his rushing demeanor.
We’ll be back! The cheesy garlic bread is supposed to be legend! No room for dessert.
Update 5/1. Big change! Owner not around? Poor service, lackadaisical at best. Caprese salad was swimming in balsamic vinegar, not drizzled. Garlic...
Read moreZero rating! I am a 69-year-old widow displaced from Louisiana. I decided to treat myself to a nice dinner following Church on Sunday. I stopped at Zamittis which I had already visited on several occasions. The food was wonderful and my waiter was delightful. However, I have to give the restaurant a zero rating because of the manager. There were several tables sitting outside, enjoying the water view and it was wonderful. Another couple came in and asked, as it was their prerogative, to lower the shades, thereby impeding our view. I would’ve been fine with that, but another table complained and went to the manager. Not satisfied, the patron and her partner left after having a drink, but not having eaten their food. The manager came out and said they had to pay or he would call the police. The couple left. When the manager came back in I asked him if he called the police. He said no. I said good because they had a point. He basically told me that it was none of my business and was extremely rude. I told him I was going to call to report him. He had the audacity to tell me that I could make a call, but he would still be there next time I came. As much as I enjoyed the food, his arrogance will stop me from going there again or recommending it to...
