The homemade split pea soup was fantastic! I think it may have been the best I've eaten ever. Even better than my own homemade. My mom was with me and she agreed with me 100%.
NEW REVIEW 10/31/24 I just had dinner at Big Mike's tonight. I had the special, which was the turkey dinner for $10.99. It was the best turkey dinner I have had in a long time. I ate with my mom and she had the same thing. We both said it was even better than her turkey dinner and she is an amazing cook. I'm telling you people you've got to get out there and visit Big Mike's. Don't be afraid to try it just because it doesn't look fancy. They have the best food you're gonna find around here. My mom and I had just had dinner at Sioux City last Sunday and the Olive Garden the Sunday before that and I'm telling you it was better than both of those places. If you like Cracker Barrel, Big Mike's has that place beat too. Sure they have a smaller menu but what they do have is some of the best food you you're gonna find. Pass up Frank's if you're heading there when you're going down 19 and give Big Mike's a try. I'm telling you you won't be disappointed. Unfortunately, they have had to shorten their hours so they are only open for dinner on Thursday -Saturday, but if you try it and shout out to your friends maybe you can help them open their dinner hours up again. Their breakfasts and lunches are very good.also. You just can't go wrong at Big Mike's. Try his soups. They are homemade...
Read moreStopped for lunch just to try out. Patty Melt for wife was OK . 1/2 &1/2 ice tea not really tea at all just a canned Coke product call Fuze. Not good. Now for crappy part sorry I'm honest as Ricky Gervais about food. I've eaten in over 40 states and maybe ordered the one wrong thing on menu. Eggs Benedict with the weirdest can yellow stuff on top not bad tasting just tasteless. Canadian bacon ok couple eggs ok . I asked the cook because he's apparently nice guy but not a chef did he make the yellow stuff nope it's poured from can. I have noticed since moving here most folks don't have an extremely high bar when it comes to food, just want a lot. If you don't believe me go to any of the buffets. Big Mike's was an old redone place clean with folding tables covered with xpendable plastic banquet table covers. The hostess/waitress was amiable and kinda caught us blindsided with explanation of cost. Sandwich came with only charged sides. Usually burger have at the least chips and pickle not here apparently. Lastly kitchen was hot and cooks were big and sweat running off I'll finish with that. Semi reasonable prices read carefully ties with the Dennys on 19. Sorry I complained made no difference and I paid for...
Read moreDefinitely wouldn't have stopped had I not seen something about it on FB. (Just because it doesn't look like a place that's open?) The inside is so cute and decorated so well. It definitely makes a huge difference that it's so clean and well maintained. The menu is quite limited. It's either breakfast or short order type items. In other words, it's more handheld items for lunch. They do have 6 "dinner" items, but nothing that really seems like a must try. My husband decided on the hotdog, and I settled for the "Helicopter," which is a bologna sandwich. It wasn't bad in the least. It tasted just like any other grilled bologna sandwich. The menu says 1/4 lb, but I'm not sure about that. Again, it IS NOT BAD....If this is the type of food you're craving, then this IS your place. The fries were crispy and fresh. The waitress was super nice and attentive. The prices are super cheap, so you won't go broke eating breakfast or lunch. So, I'd you're looking for quick, short order style food, this...
