Stopped in for a bite during a motorcycle ride. Food took a long time, and was just OK. Bacon was old, clearly pre cooked and put in a warmer (funny, given I waited 20 minutes for my food) Biscuits and gravy was flavorless, needed salt and pepper and probably some more of that good good lard. :)
Waitresses we're friendly, but the manager (owner?) was yelling at them for trivial things in their prep area, which is partially open to the restaurant. Yelling at a waitress to go bus a table when there were 15 clean ones open in the restaurant was a bit distracting to the dining experience and I felt bad for the employees.
Same person that was yelling at the waitresses seemed flustered and stressed that he was stuck for 10 minutes or so cashing people out when a few tables all we're leaving at once. I'm not sure being stressed about the fact that he is making money makes much sense. As a small business owner cashing someone out should be the highlight of your day.
Can't say I'll stop here again when there are other options. Maybe they were just...
Read moreWhen dinning with my family I really don’t appreciate the OWNER coming out and questioning why we sent back a SOUR meat burger and then being served another meal with HAIR in it. We come here so much and bring our extended family here but not anymore, what did Karen accomplish by being rude to my husband and I? You just lost business, a lot of it. She then went to the back where the other employees were asking who was going to “pay for the burger” that it wasn’t coming out of her pocket. Well how about you try it and when you are getting sick in the bathroom from food poisoning maybe that’ll humble you. I understand you raising your prices to accommodate inflation and we wanted to support you but the attitude didn’t need to come with it. She even made my daughter uncomfortable asking why she hadn’t ate her pancake yet, you’ve done this for years this isn’t good customer service. Do better. I hope this doesn’t happen to anymore families. Thankyou to the kind waitress you also deserve to be...
Read moreMy husband and I happened upon Karen's Uptown Kafe while driving to my hometown in Michigan from Pennsylvania. We prefer stopping in locally owned/run restaurants when we travel. This was a most excellent surprise! Didn't look like much going in and sitting down. Things are pretty warn down, but very clean. Lots of owls all around - turns out the owner once collected them and now everyone sends them to her. Had the most delicious homemade potato and ham soup and a BLT on homemade bread. Makes my mouth water just to write this. I'd highly recommend stopping by there if you happen to be in the area. It might even be a fun short trip from somewhere near by...
