We live in the neighboring town of Keenesburg. We have tried the Pepper Pod a few times and it wasn’t bad, not great, but not too bad. Tonight on the way home from a doctors visit in Firestone we decided to get something to go and eat at home. I’ve gotten food to go from there before and found the order to be incorrect when I got home so I decided to check the order before I left the restaurant. I had ordered a bacon cheeseburger with no lettuce, onion, tomato, or pickles. I did ask for grilled onions on the burger. I also asked for a side of onion rings. When I checked the order I found that instead of a side of onion rings they substituted the fries that comes with the burger with onion rings. So I didn’t get the fries that comes with the meal, or the side en I bit of onion rings. Strike one. I needed to get home so I just went with what they gave me. However, when I got home and began placing the meal on a plate I found that there were no grilled onions, as I had asked for on the burger. Strike two. When I bit into the burger it was way overcooked. Now I know that restaurants will cook their burgers to medium well, unless the customer asks for it to be cooked differently, but this was way beyond even well done. It was so dry I had to dip it in ketchup just to be able to swallow it. Since there was absolutely no juice it also had no flavor. Since the Pepper Pod is pretty much the only game in town I may order from them again, but to be sure before I pay for it I will sit down and go through the entire order, to include checking on how done it was cooked. If you don’t have the time to do this, I recommend going down the road to Eagle Parkway to the many restaurants located there. After reading your response to my review I should add that the first time my order was incorrect I did address the issue to the person at the take out register the next time I was there. It was concerning a bacon cheeseburger. When I got home that time I found I had paid for the bacon cheeseburger but it had no bacon. It was listed on my ticket as a “bacon” cheeseburger. So, I did talk to your staff about it and basically got a “l couldn’t care less” attitude. As far as saying it was a scathing review, and telling me I should compare you to a chain restaurant, I would give the same review to any restaurant that couldn’t get an order right, or burned the food. I said I would return, but check the order, but with your customer skills I think I will not be returning, and I will definitely not be able to recommend...
Read moreNot much to add that many others haven’t already expressed. Subpar bland food, dirty and old atmosphere, and incorrect prices. Out of the many items they serve here, the only thing that’s consistently good are the fries and sandwiches(kind of hard to mess up). Friend chicken is under seasoned and had a weird consistency. Raw dough on some of the fried shrimp and onion rings, also under seasoned. Mac and cheese had a dishwater taste. Under seasoned cod that requires all of the tarter sauce given just to finish. Greasy soups that are hit or miss. They’re online menu prices are incorrect and they only honor they’re in-store menu pricing. So they will essentially steal from you unless you speak up and point it out. The restaurant is filled with the distinct smell of sewage gases and dust. All of this to say that I’ve given them multiple chances and they always disappoint and never seem to fix anything. Also, please for the love of flavor teach your chef what salt and pepper is.
Edit due to owners response. No, the menu prices are not clear. Online it’s $12.79 for a patty melt and $0.49 for additional onions. What I was charged was $14.29 and $0.99 for additional onions. Family meal deal is listed as $40.00. I was charged $45 and your manager had to adjust the price. This review was left because I asked to speak to a manager about the misrepresentation of your prices and I was never contacted. If you would rather argue and tell people not to come to your restaurant than accept criticism and work on your stanky establishment and bland food then I’ll gladly give my money to someone else. And no it’s not fairly priced $15 for a “junk” burger while The Tavern(an actual good restaurant on 16th st.) charges $16. 75% of your customer base are geriatrics, the last time they had a quality meal was when Eisenhower was in office. I know I’m not the first person to have these criticisms and I know I won’t be the last. Also, your sign is broken and has been broken for months. Maybe spend less time in google reviews and call a plumber to fix your sewage venting issue, call sign company, and stop cooking to appease...
Read moreA friend of mine used to rave about this place and it's always packed. Finally decided to treat my sons to dinner here. Came in at 4, ordered an appetizer, Took 30 minutes for it to arrive. The waitress never bussed our table. She took our food order 10 minutes before the appetizer came. An hour goes past since we ordered our food and she stopped by our table to say it would be there soon. I told her please have the kitchen pack it to go, my son's cannot wait anymore. She said okay. 15 minutes later we still did not have our food so I paid for the appetizer and we left. I must say that I'm truly disappointed. The menu looked good, but the service was truly terrible. No one apologized even for the food never arriving. Not our waitress, not a manager, not the host that ring me up for the appetizer. Maybe the waitress forgot to put our order in. Maybe the kitchen was short-staffed. Maybe servers and bussers were short that day. But if you don't have the staff, don't fill your restaurant to full capacity. And at the very least, when there is a problem, apologize or have a member of management come to your table. It really breaks my heart taking my sons some place that I was excited about and leaving after waiting almost 2 hours and never receiving our food. Kids don't understand that! But an apology goes a long way. Update- even their comment is condescending, "what I SAY I experienced". I will never go back to this restaurant. Pinocchio's has much...
