I've only eaten there a hand full of times, each time it has been with a group, of 5 or more. I always get cheese enchiladas & sweet tea or water & a margarita. The food is usually good. The service is mostly attentive - however I've noticed the waitress Atoynia is the most professional & personable. She's intuitive and that makes for a good dining experience . The prices have gone up since the pandemic LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE HAS. BUT not too much. So its still very reasonable. Tonight my bill was less than $10. Cheese enchilada plate & water. I did order a strawberry margarita but it was not very good so she removed it from my bill. She offered to make another one or not. So I had options. The hours of operation are back to normal, and so it the service. There were about 9 tables with 3 or more & it was noisy with laughter & talking. We weren't seated on top of each other but we were close enough to enjoy the cameraderie of others adding to the dining experience. I definitely recommend Don Juans if you are in Hughes Springs Texas & have a hankerin for...

This place was good. We were on a trip back to Oklahoma from Florida and my wife said she wanted Mexican food, this was the only choice. It wasn’t a bad choice either. The servers were friendly. The building doesn’t “feel” clean. That’s mostly due to the building being very old. I have no doubt they do their best to clean.
The food was good. My wife got a fajita beef taco, I got pork street tacos. The meals were excellent. The queso, which you have to pay for, came in two varieties: yellow and white. We choose white. It had a little spice to it, nothing too bad.
I think my biggest gripe was the service. Yes, the servers were nice and friendly. But our drinks never got refilled. We only saw our server when she took our order and delivered our food. I had to ask for my ticket to leave. And that is something I dislike. I don’t want to wait 15 minutes after I’m done eating so...
Read moreLet’s start with something good…the waitress was very attentive until the end when we couldn’t find her to pay so there’s that. 1. We see they have a sign that states the menu prices are subject to change at any time and that they didn’t want to keep printing menus when they did. 2. The menu pricing was definitely on the HIGH end for TexMex. 3. We felt as if we were sitting in the kitchen. Furniture was piled up on each other, the servers were eating and serving at the same time and they were yelling the orders thru a window 15’ from our table. 4. The food was sub par but we were out of town and it was late so we went with it. 3. The additional charges. 20% extra for large party plus 3.9% for using a debit card made it an additional $35.00 over our already overpriced Mexican food. I should have driven 45 minutes for better food that was cheaper. 3 meals and a bowl of queso $94.00!!!...
