Stopped in here while passing through town on vacation and it was major mixed reviews from my family. First of all, they have these iron doors that no grandmother I know would be able to open because they're so incredibly heavy. If you're able to open the doors, you're greeted with a decor that's rather drab, like a piecemeal smorgasbord of thrift store and Hobby Lobby items. For example, there were several Christmas nutcrackers hanging around. We walked by the bar on the way to our table and the blue lights caught my attention. I thought it appeared to be a nice bar for the town. Onto the food. I'd like to comment that the queso had excellent flavor. They could really use some different chips, however. I had the cheese enchiladas with queso and they were really really good. I'm not sure which it was because when I eat my rice and beans I mix them together, but they were terribly salty. I mean so salty I couldn't touch them after that one bite. My son semi-enjoyed his kids beef nachos. They were huge -- not really a kids size so much in fact I made sure to check my bill to see if they were really kids. He ordered jalapeños on them and he said they were quite rubbery. The hard beef taco shell was fairly stale and not tasty at all. My other son really enjoyed his verde enchiladas, said the verde sauce was very tasty and not too hot. The bathrooms smelled like truck stop bathrooms, they were horrendous. Not dirty, but just it just had a filthy stench. Our server was very attentive and very good. I can't say that I'd stop in here again on my way...
Read moreMy husband and I went there for the first time on Palm Sunday. We both thought it had a nice atmosphere and think we’ll probably try it again, however, we’ll choose different plates. I really liked their hot sauce, my husband thought it was too mild, however, I like a milder hot sauce now. He ordered the Cheese 🧀 Enchiladas with Chili Con Carne and a tamale 🫔. He liked the tamale okay giving it a three, however, he did not care for the sauce on the cheese enchiladas. He said his was not chili con carne, but a red sauce with meat in it in which he did not enjoy. I ordered the Spinach Enchiladas, but they brought me the wrong plate originally, however, the waiter was very nice and took it back. He then brought me the Spinach Enchiladas, but I think I would have enjoyed the wrong plate they brought me more. It did taste like fresh, plain cooked spinach with no spices or added touches and the sour cream sauce tasted very generic. I did enjoy the beans 🫘 some, but wasn’t crazy about the rice. They did have a large menu to choose from and I am wonder if one of their specialty plates would taste better. Also, we were excited to hear they had homemade flour tortillas, but both thought they tasted very average. Also, they weren’t really that warm.
I do think at some point we’ll give it another try and hope to both find something there we...
Read moreI love Mexican food, and have enjoyed this restaurant many times, however one night I brought my family from out of town to get to-go order. separate containers so we could put together ourselves at the motel. the refried beans were so runny they never made it to the motel room! I have never been served runny refried beans before and I was very disappointed. It will be a long time before I give them another chance. whoever put those beans in my container, should not have! I have to say they have great customer service and probably the best Margaritas I've ever had plus the restaurant has...
