UPDATE: I have reduced my rating from 5 stars to 2. I have been to this location at least 10 times. Today I placed an order to go in addition to dining in the restaurant. When my to go order was ready it was not what I ordered. I ordered a BBQ burger but was given a BLT burger. When I asked if it could be corrected the amount of attitude was shocking. I had five coworkers with me who all heard me ask for a BBQ burger. The kitchen lady grabbed the bag and threw it to the side with anger. I then asked to please just add sauce to the burger to fix the missing ingredient and was told again with anger that I would have to wait 15 minutes b/c there were 5 other people ahead of me. The guy working the register was the one responsible for this mistake. He refused to take ownership of putting the order in wrong. What should have been an easy fix was made to be a complicated attitude filled moment. I get everyone has a bad day but he might need to find a spot that does not deal with customer service situations. Sadly two people in our party were having their first Hippo experience. I bragged about how amazing Hippo burgers are and this behavior was what they had to witness. The shocking part was that I did everything to make it easy and even said can I just get a container of BBQ sauce. I had a pleasurable experience the other day when a group of office friends and I visited this local dive. I had the Mexican Hippo Burger with fries... (Is there any other way to order a burger?) My friends ordered the Hippo Texas Burger, Avocado burger and the Hippo Special Burger. One of our group ordered onion rings, the rest followed the traditional rout of french fries...like me :)

The dinning space is small and we hopped tables as patrons left until we found one table that fit our needs. (away from the door and the over-head TV set.) The burgers were brought out shortly afterward and we dug in.

The bread was spongy and yellow, which reminded me of potato bread. The meat was well-done on all the burgers which was disappointing. But it didn't seem to dampen the flavor of the burger itself. The fries were averagely good fries which held up to the stand test...i.e. when grasped from the bottom and stood up they didn't fall over. and they seemed to be fresh.

I was pleased with my choice of burger. The flavor was good and greasy but what made the burger was the potato bun. I was disappointed that there wasn't enough cheese and the meat was well done. I didn't ask but I wasn't offered the opportunity to order it any other way. :( My bad, I suppose.

Lamentably, the burger was so heavy that the entire group felt the burger for several hours after our meal. So for that reason I submit this establishment to be a level 3 out of 5. Flavorful food....
