WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK. We placed a online order with one simple modification witch was soybean paper in place of seaweed. When we arrived we were prompted to pick up online orders in drive through we did as such but our whole order wasnt ready so we were asked to park out front. We pulled around front to find another customer waiting (no big deal) but we were unaware at how long this customer was waiting. He gets out of his car and approaches the building to be yelled at and disrespected by the MANAGER so he calls himself. The customer leaves without their food so we pull up a spot. The manager brings us our food amd turns around to find another customer that had been waiting awhile. He yells at her telling her "I know what you ordered get back in your car" making a scene in the parking lot. We pull off and I call and asked to speak with the manager, that point in which he tells me he is the manager. I tell him about the mishap on my order and he further goes on to tell me after I called earlier and asked about soybean paper that it is only used on one roll. So up charge me please. He then starts to tell me I'm wrong and to have...
Read morePerhaps the closest to an actual Japanese restaurant I've found in Charlotte's suburbs. The menu is fairly simple, with many of the usual favorites. However, some of the foods, such as crab rangoon, are Chinese. The only Chinese foods I would expect to see at a small restaurant in Japan are gyoza, ramen, and fried rice; certainly not crab rangoon.
The miso soup is as good as you will find in a Yoshinoya or Ajisen. Sushi rolls were reasonably priced for their size and tasted pretty good. The sushi offerings are pretty typical of an American sushi restaurant but did not stray so far from tradition as to be unrecognizable. We had a California roll and an eel roll.
Service and staff receive full praise. Being clothed in a shirt reminiscent of a happi added to the atmosphere almost as much as the giant mural of a Kyoto street filled with izakaya. Atmosphere just missed the mark, however, due to the music selection: a long list of exclusively...
Read moreThis was surprisingly worse than it looked. I went into the restaurant shortly after they opened. The closing crew it seems didn't clean up from the night before and neither did the opening crew because the booth had to be cleaned before sitting.
I snapped some pics which I'll explain. The first is just a massive rip in the booth directly in front of me which tells me they don't care for their business so why would they care for the quality of food.
The soy sauce had weird bubbles on top as if some type of oil was mixed with it. The shrimp tempura was straight from a freezer and generic. Both sushi rolls were warm, not at all what you would expect from raw fish or from a sushi restaurant that opened like 10 min prior. They were heavily coated in spicy mayo which generally is good but they were using it to cover up the taste of the other ingredients.
It was small and no one there seemed to care about working. I personally...
