Prior to coming, I read a lot of negative reviews, so I came there with optimistic thoughts and was looking for the positives to just see if folks were being hyper-critical.
Food It was alright, nothing to write home about. On par with Rosie's or other Tex-Mex around the area. I’ve been spoiled by other Mexican food around the country, so this is par for the course in this region. Wife got Fish Tacos with Rice and Beans. They were grilled, no option for fried, and she liked it! She was not a fan of the rice and beans, pretty bland. I got a California Burrito, I missed the burritos from California (especially THE California burritos from there) and if I had to rate it, I’d give it a 3 out of 5. Very hollow for what I was expecting, BUT there were fries in the burrito in true California burrito fashion, unlike the other burritos with the same name in the area. Overall, for the price, 3 out of 5.
Service This was a 2 out of 5 - We were there for just over an hour, and we got one drink refill, even after the staff stopped by with our app and entree. Eventually, when we were done, they asked if we needed anything and got our refills. This isn’t a knock at the staff, but they did not seem happy to be there. Maybe some bad news came in or something?
Atmosphere Definitely a 4 out of 5. Very similar to other Tex-mex joints around here, very clean (but they just opened around the time of this review, so it may change) and the tables, menus, bathrooms all looked great! Major kudos to the owners for all the pictures of their food, both on their menu and on their site. Deserts all looked great, and the photos were well lit and appeared to be taken professionally.
TL;DR: In closing, this is very much like most other Hispanic restaurants around here, and their location, they’ll do good, especially during the week with base traffic. I hope for their success and with our location, we’ll surely be back to...
Read moreBLUF: This Mexican restaurant has exceeded nearly every expectation I had. Details below. Order the fajitas hawaianas and you will thank me later. I'm officially hungry again after writing this review.
Excited to have a La Fuente location much closer to where we live and work. We've eaten there 3 times now (one was take out for lunch during the work week) and really enjoyed each visit.
I'm a visual person so the highest kudos goes to whoever made the menu for this location. The menu allows you to eat with your eyes first and not second guess what the dish will look like or have to scan hundreds of review photos trying to figure out if that dish is right for you or your kid.
Something I've never seen anywhere else is a margarita flight. I took a picture to show some friends what they were missing. Had a blast trying different flavors. I was a little impatient waiting for the first flight but then it was pointed out that it's like making 4 small drinks so it's going to take a little longer than just the one.
We've tried 3 different fajitas entrees now and they are just as yummy as their other locations. Food was fast during dinner and even faster during the lunch hour rush. They said it would take about 15min and the quesadilla was actually ready in about 11-12min so this place is a great option for most folks on base.
Large open atmosphere with no shortage of TVs to stay locked in during any sport season. Music isn't too loud so you don't have to yell to maintain a conversation. Easy enough to get in and out of the parking lot and the spaces feel extra wide kind of like Costco. Some of the staff was in training so answers to some of our questions took a little longer but we chalk that up to a...
Read moreMy wife and I, had lunch today (1/4/24); our first visit. The restaurant is very beautiful and the staff was very attentive and helpful. I had a combination plate that included a hard ground beef taco, chicken enchilada, beans & rice. My wife had a hard ground beef taco and all beans, no rice. The taco's were well-seasoned, the chicken enchilada had a nice flavor, the rice had some carrots, onion & perhaps celery(?); very good. The refried beans were fairly salty and we weren't really able to enjoy them as we would've liked to - this happens to all cooks, some times a little too much of something gets added and you can't undo it. My taco was getting pretty soggy, as it was lying in the enchilada sauce. If the taco could be separated somehow on the plate from liquids, or placed on in a taco holder/separate plate, it would sure help out. Overall, nice job guys and welcome to the neighborhood!
