My wife and I just had dinner here, and I wanted to write this while it was fresh in my noggin.

TLDR at the bottom.

Food: Best ribs I’ve eaten here in DFW area. I had them late in the night, a bit before closing time, and they were still falling off the bone. They were perfectly done, and the hickory was not as overpowering as I expected it to be. Paired with either sweet or spicy BBQ sauce is ideal. Though the sweet is best for balance. Brisket, marbled, top notch. Perfect tenderness. Sausage is exactly what I expected and was juicy, best with spicy BBQ, same with brisket. Mac and cheese was legit. Might be the best I’ve had, definitely exceeded my expectations. Potato salad is satisfying and def worth a shot as well. Coleslaw = bomb dot com. The star of the sides-show? Broccoli cheddar. Just… just amazing!

Service: the young lady that served us was so wonderful. Upbeat, relatable, exemplified service by giving all options so I could make the choice that I felt good with. I learned the owner is Jordan born, former pilot, and chose to cook incredible BBQ when they thought it best. And if you read this, Owner, thank you! Your care and thought shows in the food, friend. You should be proud of your work, and it certainly tasted like it. Good work. Anyone that puts the kind of thought into their hickory and meat selection as you, may still fall short because they do not have your skill.

Atmosphere: Definitely Texas, definitely intimate, absolutely comfortable. Great family spot, tables can be moved if necessary. Cleanliness was on par.

TLDR: best ribs in DFW and HEB. Exceeded expectations in each meat and side. Beautiful story the owner can tell you. Friendly, old school Texas BBQ spot for the traditionalists....

My husband and I were out looking for some BBQ... our favorite place of Berry Best BBQ moved to a new location. I was pretty hopeful seeing the 4.6 star rating. In actuality, I'm confused on the rating now. I ordered the 2 meat with brisket and ribs. Brisket was dry and lacked flavor. Only a small smoke ring and no bark whatsoever. The ribs while tender, same story. I don't know if they were cooked too long because the meat was too little. (I don't know if they use a smoker, if they do I really can't tell.) My husband got the hot links, and well... they were hot links. No char on the outside, they tasted boiled at best. The macaroni and cheese, again no flavor. Noodles and cheese. We had to add salt and pepper... it could really use some other spices. The beans had flavor but in the wrong way. They had way, way to much tomato flavor. Almost like tomato soup with a bit of meat and a can of ranch style beans. The sauce though, I got the sweet sauce and let me tell you, it was exactly the sauce I look for. I hate vinegar based sauces, and this was the perfect sweet and Smokey sauce I love. So please keep that! It was amazing. Overall below average on flavor/taste. But the staff was incredibly nice...

We ate here for the first time it was good! There could have been a little more smoke but I use a lot of smoke when I smoke at home. The first couple of bites were a little dry but that was probably because I got the end piece’s which cooks quicker than the rest. The more I ate the moister they got. The beans were delicious and seasoned well then when you add a pickled jalapeƱo yummy. The potato salad was very good! The barbecue sauce was delicious they have three kinds Sweet, my favorite, spicy and original.Normally I would tell you what Darrell ate but we had the exact same thing. He said no complaints he wanted a leftover rib sandwich for supper since this was lunch so we saved some to take home. The staff was very nice and when I tried to take my tray to them the sweet little girl hurried to take it from me. It is very clean other than a few flies which cannot be helped with people coming in and out it was great! We will be back I can promise you that. Oh as far as a previous review saying brisket was dry I saw him slicing brisket and the juices were running out so not dry at all. I did not have the brisket just watched...

I will be honest with you, guys. We bought the family meal (2lbs meats). The brisket was tender and juicy, but lacked flavor...a lot of it, needs more spices. The beans had no flavor, you need to change your potato salad recipe...it's more like cold mashed potatoes, come slaw was pretty decent, the kids didn't like the Mac and cheese. We had dinner at your place to ring in the new year and we were expecting a flavorful meal, but that was not the case. I hope you take my comment as constructive criticism. I've been to too many places in most States....I'm a trucker, but your brisket needs a lot of flavor(spices) and some of your side dishes. Do some research by going into other places. Old House BBQ (Carrollton) and you'll see what I'm talking about. Happy new year, guys.
