Mabe's Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

Let me start this review with saying I would like to personally thank the owner for putting such a Cornerstone in the community your establishment was so much needed in the park manor community I love coming into the shop and I'm always greeted by a friendly hello and a warm smell also the ambience in here is amazing and just in case you're a first-timer and don't really know what it is you want which is most of us the staff is well knowledgeable in letting you know what everything entails even if you have allergies I always make sure that I get the tuna sandwich and I love that they have homemade cookies and you kind of never want to leave I just love the vibe and I pray that this establishment stays around for years to come you got my support and my vote I love supporting black businesses I'm going to come visit you guys pretty soon I'm getting hungry writing this review so if you guys are ever in the Park Manor Community make sure you guys stop in to this Mabe's and order everything on the menu don't forget to.order me a peanut butter smoothie hey don't take my word from it come in and try for yourself you definitely and your stomach is going to thank you , I love the healthy selections as well that they carry check it out This place...

On 11/02/24, I placed an order for the first time on Mabe’s sandwich shop website solely due to the 15% off incentive. However, when it was time to apply the discount the website would not accept the code. So, before I completely checked out on the website I contacted the restaurant and spoke with “Robert “ explaining that I wasn't able to apply the discount and he assured me that he would take care of the discount once I arrived to pick up my order. However, this wasn't the case because not only did I not receive the 15% discount I was assured that I would receive, I ended up waiting an additional 15 minutes beyond the 45 minutes the website stated it would take for my order to be ready for pick up. It has been 2 weeks and after several phone calls and even an in-person order placed, I have yet to receive the discount. I believe your word is valuable and in this case, it was...

I stopped in for the first time and was warmly welcomed—customer service was definitely on point, which I appreciate. Gratitude for that.

As for the food, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. I tried the DJ’s Jerk Turkey Panini, and unfortunately, it missed the mark for me—bland, underwhelming, and just not memorable. I also had the Blackened Greek Shrimp Salad and some of their “homemade” lemonade. The salad was decent—definitely better than the panini—but the lemonade tasted like sugary, store-bought juice. Nothing truly homemade or unique stood out.

The decor and seating are fine, though the space is small and parking is limited—street parking only, so be prepared to circle the block if you’re driving.
