My husband and I stopped in for lunch one day while we were in the area on vacation. This was hands down the best meal we ate the whole time we were there! My husband is a huge fan of chicken fried steak and we chose the restaurant based on how many positive comments we saw in the reviews regarding their chicken fried steak. We both ordered it after finding out theirs had been voted the best in the state, which I believe is well deserved! I ate every bite of my generous lunch sized portion and it's not something I usually even order! There was also a variety of home cooked sides to choose from and the turnip greens, green beans, mashed potatoes and pinto beans were all fresh and delicious. The meal included homemade melt-in-your-mouth yeast rolls that reminded me of his grandmother's. My husband topped it off by ordering one of the best pieces of chocolate pie I've ever sampled (of course I had to try it!)! To top it off, the service was great and the staff was so friendly! It's a really good thing for my waistline (and his!) that we don't have a place like this in our area! You can bet we will eat here again if we get the chance and we highly recommend it to everyone who likes a great home cooked "Sunday after church"...

We had such a wonderful experience here! I ordered the small chicken fried steak, and let me tell you — there was nothing small about it. The portion was incredibly generous, with a crispy, flavorful crust and tender meat inside. The Brussels sprouts were roasted perfectly, and the homemade mashed potatoes and gravy were creamy and comforting. Oh, and let's not forget the amazing jalapeño cornbread. I had to get a piece to go with my leftovers. The kids also loved their cheese pizza.

Our waitress was fantastic — attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere inside was just as memorable, with charming old architecture that gave the place so much character and warmth.

One of the sweetest touches was the owner coming out to greet us personally and giving small gifts to the “sugars” (my grandkids). And just when we thought the visit couldn’t get better, the kids were treated to a little surprise on the way out — such a thoughtful gesture that truly made our day.

Exceptional Chicken Fried Stake, hush puppies were like southern Donut holes. We came to get Catfish...our mistake that we came the wrong night (Thursday), although it was our last night before heading back to Washington State. The cook surprised us with 'left over' catfish after she had finished prepping the catch for Friday night (the one night they have catfish). Full catfish meal with Collard Greens (my left over brown gravy used to top these), Hush Puppies, Red Beans. Ate the Catfish cold at the airport the next day - excellent cold...thanks to our server who relayed our dissapointment at coming the wrong night and the cook for making us feel like part of her family!!!
