TLDR: Good service, decent food, great value, casual diner-like ambience.

We (party of 3) arrived around 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was about a quarter full. A server let us know we could seat ourselves wherever we wanted.

The restaurant was very plain. The tables and chairs were no-frills. Our table had advertisements plastered all over it. Each table had salt and pepper, sugar (and alternatives), and coffee creamer. Whiteboards announced the day’s specials. There was a family with young children running about in one corner and an elderly gentleman with a cowboy’s hat in another. I definitely felt the homestyle-ness of it all.

We ordered the mushrooms, bowl of soup of the day, and dinner salad for appetizers. We did the Chili Burger and Yankee Pot Roast Dinner with tots and the Shrimp and Fish combo with fries for our entrees. The soup and salad were served quickly, less than 5 minutes after ordering, after which came the mushrooms and then (before we finished) the entrees.

The food was overall about what you’d expect from a place like this. The salad was plain lettuce with a pile of shredded American cheese ontop and Italian dressing (our choice). The soup, a beef and vegetable take, was savory and the meat was tender. Turns out they had just run out of it so our server apologetically gave it to us in a smaller cup size and told us she wouldn’t charge us for it. The mushrooms came piping hot and served with ranch. The batter was pretty thick and hard-crispy; the mushrooms themselves were small but juicy. The chili smothered burger was good. It was definitely messy. The chili tasted canned and lacked much spice. The patty, which I ordered medium-rare, turned out more medium, but still packed alot of grilled-meat flavor and juice, albeit lacking salt. The buns were over-toasted to a black color. The tater tots were hot, crispy, and good. The fried fish and shrimp batter was again thick, but paired nicely with the tartar sauce. The fries were more mushy than crispy. The vegetables served alongside were canned/frozen. The pot roast was hearty and smothered in a savory gravy. The vegetables and meat were tender. The portions were overall generously large given the relatively cheap prices (at least from the perspective of a city-dweller). We had to pack most of our tots, fries, and the mushrooms because we were so full.

Our waitress was polite and checked up on us frequently. Though not overly warm or friendly she satisfied our expectations.

I would overall recommend this spot for some quick and hearty grub. Definitely don’t be looking for anything fancy, though. No-frills...

I’m so confused why this place has so many good reviews.

My family of 5 left feeling so disappointed and we will never go back. So many other places in town where the food is SO much better for the same price and you leave with extras b/c you get so much food. Not here.

I do want to say that the service was fast & friendly.

My 15yr old got the French toast and she got 2 skinny wonder bread slices. No dusting of pwd.sugar or anything. It was pitiful. The rest of us instantly started sharing our fries & onion rings and offering bites of our sandwich b/c we knew she was going to be left hungry. For $8 IMO you shouldn’t leave hungry. My daughter is a slender girl & not a big eater.

My husband & I both got the French dip. It was ok. The sandwich was small. Simple store bought deli meat in the middle. No pickle or cheese…it was something you make when no effort is being made. The onion rings had lots of batter, thus tonssssss of grease. But I ate them so I wouldn’t leave hungry.

My son got a cheeseburger. Now that did actually look good. If you come here this might be your best bet. He gave it an 8/10.

My youngest got the kids pancakes, bacon & eggs. She ate it all. Which never happens. It was actually cheaper than the French toast and came with more food. LOL.

I’m sorry but if you are looking for some amazing dinner...

I see some comments complaining about food that’s the reason why I am writing this, even if I don’t write a comments pretty much never! It’s country restaurant and country food, Decent variety, portions are very big and if you choose to take a soup with it,will be overfull! I had stake n eggs, meat was perfectly grilled as I asked,I eat daily at least once in restaurants all over the states I don’t remember when I got better grilled steak medium well, even more expensive restaurants! I didn’t see anything more expensive then 12$, restaurant is awesome food even better, more important you will not get out hungry for sure! People who asking for better service…don’t expect to get sucked for 12 bucks! Just get in,order eat and get a f out let the others to sit n eat,the place is busy and that should tell you something! I hate when people come to places to eat for cheap but expecting as they want to fine dining, Just go to eat at McDonald’s 8$ meal as you used to it!...

We went to check it out for our first time and it’s a very clean restaurant at a truck stop. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive and the food was good except my husbands sausage patty was not cooked all the way through but the waitress gave us a discount because of it even though we told her that wasn’t necessary. Unfortunately the 2 men eating next to us were having a discussion about puking chunks and when they had diarrhea so we had to take my breakfast home as I could not eat it all while listening to there loud long discussion about their experiences with tummy problems.
