Papa Saverio's Pizzeria of Carol Stream — Restaurant in Illinois

I rarely ever take time to do reviews but my disappointment is so high. I’ve been coming to this location for the last 5 years or so. They’ve always had delicious pasta at very reasonable prices so I would order there occasionally when I wanted to treat myself. It’s probably been 6 months to a year since I last ordered and I typically get the Lasagna, Spaghetti and meatballs or chicken parm. Today I called and ordered the chicken parm w/2 meatballs. I’m guessing management may have changed because when I asked simple questions about what was in dishes on the menu the gentleman had to put me on hold to find out. Also substituting garlic bread in for the breadsticks that come with the meal is now a 1.99 charge. I get to the restaurant and my order is done on time which is great. I’m feeling nervous about how the food will be because it seems there are new people at the location. I pop it open in the car and it doesn’t look good. It appeared there was popcorn chicken under a layer of cheese. I got home and confirmed what u saw in the car there’s barely any chicken in the dish. The pieces are so small you can’t even poke them with a fork to pick them up. Some of them are ALL bread. When I have ordered prior there has been a huge cut of chicken breast with cheese melted on it sliced into at least inch long pieces that were meaty. This isn’t even edible. If I hadn’t ordered meatballs I would have no meat in a CHICKEN PARM dish. Clearly corners are being cut to save money and cheat customers. On top of that the meatballs lack flavor. At first I was like everyone else I thought the pizza was good and that the people there were nice, but after working there briefly and seeing how the owner ran the place i will never eat there again. The workers were amazing people there but the condition of everything there was deplorable the equipment there was terrible and whenever any of the other employees would ask for something new such as a broom or bowl the owner is so cheap he won't buy anything new. I think the entire time i was there l never saw the dough machine be thoroughly cleaned or half of the stuff there. The walls in the cooler where the ingredients were stored had some green and black stuff on the wall and it would occasionally get on to the cheese and would later be grounded down in the machine that I never saw cleaned. The racks where the dough was had black stuff on the under side of the rungs where the dough would expand and be exposed the unknown substance. When I asked the owner about it all he told me to do was to rip off the dough where the black stuff was and rolli the dough for a pizza anyway. I ordered by phone, had to repeat my order 3 times, explained that I wanted contactless delivery, also explained that my house is on a corner that can be confusing, asked if I could leave a tip on my card, was told no because he already ran my card, he said tip him in cash, I said I don’t have any cash, he said okay I’ll call you back, he asked me to hurry up and I told him not to bother calling me. We hung up, he called me back to tell me the driver couldn’t find my house, said he could only find - - - (house number) and I said “that’s my house”. He had written down the wrong number, before I hung up I said “he can leave it on the table next to the front door” and the guy says “okay, I’ll tell him”. Delivery knocks, knocks again, I open the door and he’s holding a cc slip for me to sign. He has no pen. I tipped him on the card and sit down to eat and it’s not what I ordered.
