Mel's Grill — Restaurant in Independence Charter Township

It's a good spot for breakfast or brunch.. Service is incredible, All the servers work together to make sure all the tables are covered All the time. I was not too impressed with the corn beef hash Benedict. It was just a big pile of mush. But God it was a lot of food... Mother loves this place because it's the only place where she can order her scrambled eggs "soft" And they come out just the way she likes!!! Update: IMO This place sucks... Our friend likes it because she gets a lot of attention from the staff who know her and call her by name. But you can't get stuff the way you like it. I asked for well buttered toast and it came out sopping with that grease stuff they paint on. I could only eat the edges, I asked my hash browns be cooked. Well done with onions and they weren't any crispier than normal and they forgot the onions. That's just the kind of stuff that pisses me off. So, I will not be going here anymore unless I have to...

My daughter and I have been here twice and both times we've had exceptional service from the staff! The first visit we came after her doctor's appointment at CMG, the second time we visited after her visit to the dentist. She loves eating at Mel's Grill because of their Mickey Mouse pancakes!! The food has always been delicious!!!

A little side note: There was a situation from our most recent visit where I dropped my wallet and a patron had turned it back into the restaurant. One of the staff, Katie, contacted my husband and I over Facebook to return my wallet. Not only is the food really, really good, but the patrons and the staff are even better!!! Initial visit to this family restaurant and the line was long but moving fast andconstant. Immediately I could tell that it must have been good because of how many people were waiting. I had a Michigan salad with chicken and a side pita bread and it was large and delicious. But their menu had many many items including breakfast varieties and so I will go back to have breakfast and dinner at another time. My waitress was excellent... she memorized are similar orders and did not get them mixed up.
