Great family hole-in-the-wall restaurant with good food and a bit on the rustic side. I've been here a couple times for breakfast and it's been solid and consistent. My go-to is Chorizo Con Huevos with corn tortillas. The chorizo is cooked more to a ground meat texture as opposed to scrambling it in with the eggs as you cook them as in a Tex Mex style but it's still really good. Comes with rice and beans and choice of corn or flour tortillas. I wish the tortillas were homemade though. It would take it next level from a comfort food perspective. Their menudo is really good and is the only one that comes close to my mom's. You can get it with or without hominy. The broth is packed with flavor and has great spice and richness to make it packed with flavor. I could drink a cup of it come winter time. The tripe is tender and yet to be chewy. Comes with a plate of dried oregano, diced onions, jalapeño and limes. Service is hit or miss on expediency, which explains the 4 on the score, but the staff is pretty friendly. Forgot pics this time but will add them on the next trip down. Give San Antonio's a go. You won't be disappointed!!! BTW... the Bloody Mary's are a great side...
Read moreBest restaurant in town. It was my first time there although my fiancee used to go there everyday on his lunch break when he worked at Roth's. We met our two friends there one is currently the manager at Monmouth Roth's the other just retired as manager of Monmouth Roth's. They of course knew the owner and his family. The owner brought our food to us just to say hello. He seemed like a very nice man. They bragged about how hard working the owner is. It showed. The food was great. Hot, fast, accurate. The cost for the four of us each getting full dinners and one beer a piece was VERY reasonable. I always check the bathroom of the restaurant when I go to the first time. I know how clean of a place it is by how clean the restroom is The first place I go when I get there. This one was immaculate. This was very clean. Nice restaurant. Home Town...
Read moreNice place for a good bite to eat. Craving an enchilada, so I ordered the enchilada and burrito combo. It was good, but I will not order again. Comparing what the other person ordered for just a burrito, mine was very small in comparison and lacked any real difference between the burrito and the enchilada. Maybe some rice on the inside, but minimal difference. My suggestion is if you are hungry, just get a burrito and then add ala carte items if you need. The open room area is nice, but conversations are carried far here. We where clearly hearing folks on the other side of the big room. It is fine, but can be very distracting at times. It is nice to know how the other people's love life is going though...lol Recommend for a good solid Mexican meal. Just keep your conversations about nothing secret as it will not...
