Los dos amigos WAS my go-to Mexican place for years (Mostly due to location), but I won’t be going back anymore. It’s been deteriorating for a long time and they obviously don’t wanna improve anything. This review is a combo of my last few visits: The service, always below average, somehow got worse. ’Going through the motions’ is an understatement. I’ve had to request utensils, plates, napkins, boxes, the bill and more. Scenery is typical Mex-restaurant with my favorite part being the heinous carpet. The food was never amazing before but now it’s almost cafeteria-level bland. The enchilada sauce, chipotle sauce and mole are almost without taste. The Arroz con Pollo looks and tastes like a frozen dinner cooked in the microwave. Worst fajitas around. Tortillas are obviously store bought. My chips have been stale, salsa is mediocre and even the beans seem to have gotten worse. Just like a typical bad Chinese place, Los Dos will stay open forever thanks to college kids, older people and those that know no better. But count me out Gave two stars because at least I didn’t...
Read moreI went to eat here with my family the week before last. We got mangoritas, fajitas for two, fajita salad and chicken strips/fries for the little one.
We were enjoying our food and time here up until a quarter of the way through my fajita/taco salad. I bit down onto something hard. I pulled it out of my mouth and it looked to be some type of metal wire. It was about 1/2" to 3/4" long. I showed the waiter who said it was probably from the wire brush they use in the kitchen. It didn't seem to be a big deal and he offered to make another fajita salad. I refused as we were ready to leave at that point. The cost was removed from our bill for the salad but we still ended up spending over $50.
We took home a considerable amount of leftovers, but we ended up throwing them out for fear of there being another wire in our food. I can't imagine what would've happened if I had ingested one of these.
This was our first time here and unfortunately we will not...
Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant for the past 20 years off and on, and I have to say my latest experience was the absolute best it's ever been.
I don't know what they've changed in the past year since I was here last, but whatever they did, and whatever your past experiences were, I must say they are absolutely a first choice for anything in the Independence/Monmouth area.
The service was fast, the meat was fresh, the rice was fluffy, not dried out or chewy. Perfect. The seasonings they used were a perfect compliment to the dish. I've had Mexican dishes at over a hundred restaurants in more than a dozen states, and none has stuck out to me more than my recent experience with Los Dos...
