Summit Pizza - Independence — Restaurant in Independence

The positives are the pizza is really good. They have a HUGE menu with so many options. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

We have tried Summit Pizza 3 times and have yet to have an amazing experience. We tried the buffet the first time and everything was old, but to be fair we got there at almost 1:00 and the buffet ended at 2:00. They offered to make us anything we wanted so that was a nice touch. I would say if you go for the buffet, go early. The second time they forgot to put our pizza order in and they took almost an hour to realize they had forgotten. We thought they were slammed so didn’t say anything and were understanding. The third time there were issues with the salad bar and service. I tried the salad bar and was disappointed considering the price. There were a lot of options but the only lettuce option was iceberg which was definitely past its prime and had several rotten brown pieces. The cherry tomatoes were very soggy.

The servers are friendly but the service overall is not great. We don’t mind waiting but EVERYTHING was a wait. At least 10 minutes to take our order, never came by to check on us or refill our drinks- ended up having to get up and find someone to refill them. Then it took forever for them to bring us our bill and a box. There were only 4 groups and 2 waitresses, so there was no reason they shouldn’t have been a little more diligent. I have not been here to eat yet, but now I desperately want to after reading Sydney Coleman's review. This woman is completely trashing this restaurant because they took 10 mins to bring her the pizza after ordering??!! Literally throwing a fit because she was there for an hour saying that THAT is very slow and unacceptable? Im sorry but Sydney, you need to grow up. Idk where youve been to before but spending an hour at a restaurant is unbelievably average. You do realize that pizza has to cook to be eaten, right? Gawww, unbelievable. I will be placing an order in the next 10 mins! Thanks guys!

update: I got the pizza, its pretty damn good and hearty. Sauce is a tiny bit thicker than your average "chain" pizza which is nice, got herbs on top of the cheese and pepperoni, all around good pie right here. If you want some savory stuff thats a small change from the norm,...

Man, such a disappointment and I felt robbed when the check came. Every step in the process involved an unreasonable wait and there were maybe only 4 other patrons. We walked in, waited to be seated for about 3 minutes. The waitress took about an extra 10 minutes just to come back, take our order. Another 10 minutes for a salad. Then finally our 2 pizzas. The only item not late to our party. All for 60 dollars! The pizza had no flavor but cheese and bread and was overpowered with red onion. I'm telling you, you can make a better pizza at home, MUCH cheaper!! Maybe it's just this location, but I do NOT recommend!

Edit: I feel like I was being generous in explaining wait time. We were there from about 5:30-6:40. This experience still haunts me...
