I am not surprised by the fact that I didn't get any pictures this time. I will definitely snap some on my next visit.
Traditional/Authentic Fish Camp. The only thing missing, and maybe I just missed it, was the giant fish tank, full of colorful aquatic friends.
This place has the look and feel of the fish camps I grew up knowing. The long hallway when you walk in, to the host stand and checkout counter front and center.
I have driven by this place a few tines, and every time I do, the parking lot is packed. I would assume the restaurant is full to capacity, but it is much larger than it looks from the outside.
There are multiple "rooms" filled with tables that can be easily moved to accommodate large parties. (When we went in, I noticed a table set up ready for a large party)
The hostess greeted us with a smile and took us to our table. Our server was quick to come and take our drink orders. She was also patient with us and gave us plenty of time to review the menu. She returned and took our orders. When I asked about if they had cinnamon available for my sweet potato, she offered me some cinnamon butter, which, for me, was a total win/win.
The trip to the salad bar was satisfying with the typical fish camp salad bar options. They do have disposable plastic gloves available to use while filling your plate. The staff were refreshing the bar when we got up there, so everything was full, clean, and fresh.
Our dinner came out just shy of me finishing my salad. OMGOSH...so. much. food. I ordered a small Alaskan white fish plate, and there were I believe 5 or 6 pieces of fish along with my sweet potato and cinnamon butter.
While dining, our server was on top of drink refills and making sure we had everything we needed. Due to the amount of food they piled on the plate, I couldn't even come close to finishing it. (I may have overdone it at the salad bar)
Our server was prompt and quickly offered us boxes to take home the whole other meal we could not finish in one sitting.
We were offered dessert, to which I had to ask what they had. Our server listed off a plethora of cheesecake options, a strawberry cake, and a carrot cake.
I could not pass up a slice of carrot cake, but I also could not fit another bite in my belly. So she quickly boxed up a piece for me to take home and enjoy at my leisure.
I did enjoy that carrot cake and am glad I brought it home. It was just enough to complete my meal and day.
Next time, I will get photos because there will definitely be...
Read moreFirst off all quiet as a church in there lol. Not anyones fault. Hostess was dry and acted like she hated her job. Everyone did. Just sat us down and didn't speak.
There was no hey how you doing from the server, once again a dry and bitter what are y'all having to drink. Sounded like it had been a rough day. I can sympathize, I know sundays are busy days for servers and restaurants, if not the most busy day. Other people with customer service jobs don't get to be rude. I know I don't. The lady that rings out checks was treating us like we were just cattle in a line.. like she hated her job as well, She did ask how our food was, I said it was alright. Which was kind I feel, considering it was all dry and disgusting. The shrimp was okay but the fish and fries were chewy. I don't know how this place stays open.
Rudest and worst experience ever. I was afraid to ask for a box when I was done because I told her previously we didnt need anything else, figured I would get too much attitude, luckily she offered me one. I don't know if this is just how it is on the weekends, and if the owner is even aware of it. But good lord only go here if you want to feel like a burden and inconvenience. Really want the owner to be aware of this, because it runs good people off who still tipped 5 dollars even when she...
Read moreThe girls working at the drive-through window were very kind and good natured and it is very convenient to have a drive-through window. I ordered the calabash shrimp and fried oysters dinner that came with a baked potato, some hush puppies and a very small sample of coleslaw. The food was average, OK. There was just not much taste to the shrimp or the oysters. There was a lot of bread and the breading wasn't really seasoned, so I felt like I was eating a lot of flour and grease. I will try it again at a later date and update my review. For $18.00 + the food should be better. UPDATE** I went back to this restaurant and ordered fish and shrimp, hush puppies with French fries baked potato, coleslaw. Honestly nothing was good except the potatos and hush puppies. Fish and shrimp tasted like it was cooked in old oil and was greasy and it had no salt or seasoning. The coleslaw tasted terrible more like pure vinegar. My friend agrees with me that ate this meal with me in this review. I am going to give this 2 stars for hope in the future however go somewhere else to eat seafood rather than waste...
