My daughter and I are big fans of acai bowls, and we’ve been to a ton of places that make them. The Spot is the closest one to us, and while their bowls are good, the overall experience could be better. They offer about 3-5 pre-created acai bowls, but I usually go with the build-your-own option. My daughter has her favorite on the menu, though nothing here really stands out compared to other places like Kosta Bowl , which I love.

The staff is usually younger and friendly enough, but the atmosphere is where this place falls flat. It’s not sterile, but it’s bland—just not a spot where you feel like sticking around to eat. We end up eating in my truck outside, which says a lot about the vibe. That said, the acai bowls have been consistently good, and we’ll keep coming back simply because it’s convenient. I was driving to a job 25 miles away from my house, in an area of Pittsburgh I was unfamiliar with. I wanted a coffee drink but I didn’t want to go to a chain. The only shop that showed up in the area was Churn, and just as I was about to make the turn that would be a 5 minute drive out of my way, I saw The Spot on the corner. I wish I hadn’t already eaten breakfast because I LOVE smoothie bowls. All of the ingredients looked delicious. Even the biscottis looked amazing. I ended up getting an iced mocha with almond milk and it’s one of the better iced mochas I’ve had! I’m halfway through it as I type this. The folks that work here are SO NICE!! I got stuck in a snow storm and came in to get out of the cold while waiting for a salt truck. They stayed open late for the people looking to get out of the cold. The young guy and girl working that night were so nice, and understanding! I liked it so much I came back a few days later for some breakfast. THE COFFEE IS SO GOOD! I tried a bowl of oatmeal, so delicious!
