Came here once before about five years ago and my food was so bad I hadn’t been back since. Figured we would try it again. First I have no idea how this place has 4 stars. This is one of the worst, if not the worst, Chinese restaurants I’ve been to. I used to work for Foxconn and we’ve gotten food from all of the best Chinese restaurants in Indy as well as Chicago, so I’m fairly experienced.
The good.. egg roll was decent, spring roll decent. The bad.. fried wonton overcooked only on one side, not cooked at all on the other. We had garlic beef and it was coated in some weird tomato based sauce. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. Never seen this F’d up sauce in any restaurant I’ve ever been to and there should be some sort of warning on it. Orange chicken tasted like it had some of this tomato bs sauce on it as well. Really mind blown how this place is still in business. Not a single person...
Read more6 years later, some things are not the same. I am glad they survived the pandemic, but steamed dumplings are no longer exceptional. They're just like every other Chinese restaurant. And occasionally, the broccoli is barely cooked. But, still glad to have Bamboo in the neighborhood.
It is what you expect and more. Perfect steamed dumplings (they have good filling & sauce) & Mei Fun (fine rice noodles are actually fine here, some places have bigger noodles that I wonder if they're even rice). We have ordered here several times, and they are consistent. My husband & son love the Tso chicken & crab rangoons. I've also enjoyed their chicken & broccoli and egg rolls. When people eat in the restaurant, the dishes for service seem nice and artfully arranged. We've never ordered carry out drinks, but they have a big selection for a...
Read moreThe two for service was due to the fact we ordered the food via Grubhub. The Grubhub driver was fine and on time. I rated them a 5 for atmosphere because we can’t say N/A. For the food, well it wasn’t great. My wife and I both ordered General Tso’s. The chicken was massive in size but that was because over 75% if every piece is breading. The crab ragoon was ok but over cooked. The egg role was excellent. The hot and sour soup tasted good but was like warm. They clearly had this on the stove on low and didn’t try to heat it up first as the rest of the food was at least hot. The friend rice had corn in it, which isn’t disclosed and we both have diverticulitis. Overall wasn’t the worst but we ordered it because the reviews were mostly good but we won’t order it again. To many other options in the area to have another $60...
