What an amazing find. Stopped in The Crown on the way back from New Orleans. We were offered the bread (which was delicious) multiple times. Needless to say, I ate multiple slices of it. Everyone was just so friendly and I really felt that southern charm and comfort from the time I walked in till when I left. As much as I love Cajun/Creole food (New Orleans)....I was ready for the chance to have some hearty southern cooking. I wasn't disappointed. The catfish, the green beans and all the pies at the dessert table....It was all delicious. I bought a few of the pie mixes and the Jezebel sauce. Read moreJust off the banks of the Indian Bayou sits a must-stop on your trip to the Mississippi Delta. Whether you are just passing through or you are there following the Blues Trail on the way to the B.B King museum, The Crown in Indianola is sure to be a memorable stop. I was just lucky enough to catch them for lunch this visit. Of course I may be a little partial but the Catfish and Chicken Allison is as good as it's ever been, along with those special green beans and of course the bread plate that is passed around as well as the dessert table with so many kinds of fresh pies. Stopping in is always a favorite of mine on my trip home as well as the chat.
