Family friendly atmosphere, I enjoyed it very well when it was "Our Pub", and since becoming Driftwood, the menu has been whittled down to nearly nothing. If customers want fried, fried and more fried food, this is the spot. Wings were 'chickeny', gamey tasting, and dripping in oil. Blackened whitefish dinner seemed freezer burned and over seasoned (WAY too salty). Asked for hot buffalo and server presented bottled hot sauce. Returned a week later hoping the daily special looked inviting, but same server couldn't tell me what exactly it was, so I got the NY strip steak with broccoli (worried the broccoli was microwaved). Asked for non-sweetened tea, got sweet, waited and waited for my server to return, feeling invisible and it hurt my feelings, despite the brave smile I donned at anyone looking my way. Finally the barmaid stepped in to be my server. I got the NY strip steak and requested medium rare. It was served blue. I can eat that, and glad it came mostly raw, because the steak its self was so full of gristle and fascia only a small portion could be cut by the steak knife (I joked to myself my steak must have come from a rodeo bucking bull or a bullfight). Had it been cooked to my order, it might not have been edible at all. My fingers were sore from the force it took to cut my steak by the time I forfeited to it, leaving the non cuttable portion on the plate, which was more than half the steak. It was musical Bingo night, which was the most pleasant part of the evening, being in the company with around 20 people or so having a great time together, singing along to excerpts of recognizable popular music. Asked about karaoke night, which I was advised is not in the foreseeable future; another reason I may not return right away, unless some kind of improvements to the menu are made. Disappointing, restaurant lacks creativity, lacks healthy options (salad was just ok), and the barmaid's frustration at the server's lack of attentiveness was palpable. Encouragement to the new owner to restore this fantastic location to be somewhere desirable to be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood is hit and miss. I do like their pizza and calzones are good as well. Stopped in a few evenings ago to the most disappointing, everything. The place was busy so we sat prepareing to be patient, no problem. Instead of the calzone I was going to get, I went for the $26 T-bone special. The steak included a shrimp skewer, broccoli and choice of potato. The food was brought out and dropped Infront of us; would have liked steak sauce and another drink but, never got the chance to ask. My M.R. Steak looked like it would have served better as a tire chock and, I am not exaggerating. What was there for broccoli, consisted of about 1T. of mushy slopp. I've had their broccoli before so this was sad; even the baked potato appeared to have been cooked many, many, many hours before hand. It took nearly 10 minutes for the server to be stopped by my friend to explain the problem. She appeared to be put out and offered a different cut of meat after making me feel as if this was my problem. My friend on one side and the stranger on my other side had to chime in, an then, she was gone, still no drink. Anyway, nothing got any better from there. She criticized me for rejecting the broccoli goop; I didn't say anything about it mearly moved stuff to the yuck plate and she actually chasised me for not eating it. The replacement meat was again the T- bone, big cut looked grey and sickly though as if it had been cooked in running hot water. I just boxed the thing hoping I could make it into something that could be eaten, at home. She refilled the drinks on either side of me and I never did get that second beer. After twenty minutes I did get the check. They were busy but, I wondered what I did to her to get this terrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have eaten at OUR PUB a total of 4 times. The food and service have always been mediocre at best but today was the worst. I went in around 2pm. I was greeted very friendly. The place was a little busy I will admit. But most had already been served and it was slowly emptying. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with french fries and some fried pickles. I was told to be patient that there was only one cook. I replied I was in no hurry. The pickles came out surprisingly fast and were hot and tasty. I browsed my phone and a little while later my burger came out . I asked for mustard and put some ketchup over the fries. I opened the burger to add some ketchup and mustard and there was no cheese or bacon.. I told the waitress when she brought my mustard and she took up my food and salad dcahe would be right back. She stopped at two other tables with my food in hand then proceeded to the back to which a discussion in slightly elevated voices could be heard but nothing discernable. The waitress placed in front of my my burger once more. Untouched except a cold skin ce of American cheese laid over top and some small pieces of some extra crispy very old very dry bacon on top of that. I did eat the burger which had lost all its warmth as I am a severe diabetic and had just taken my insulin injection before coming inside to eat my meal. I had to eat. The fries were now cold and the coke slaw seemed old and tasteless. The waitress did apologize for the mistake and took verbal responsibility for it. But when I got my bill everything was charged full price. I quietly paid my bill and left.
I understand mistakes happen. My whole issue was what they considered an acceptable fix.
I know it will be sometime before I eat...
